Interesting, I noticed EMS crews here carrying yellow Kenwoods with VHF antennas. That doesn't seem to coincide with what's in the DB.

One possible explanation is they are using two radios, one for Cherokee EMS ops (yellow Kenwoods with VHF antennas) and another for EMS to Hospital or other agencies like med helos or mutual aid (Viper TG). That is common, before my county went to P25 EMS had two radios, one Motorola Type II for county ops, another P25 VIPER to talk to hospitals and outside agencies/units.

In Cherokee County I only hear the Mutual Aid TG on VIPER. Traffic is always related to casino activity. I have never received any conventional traffic related to EMS or fire.

I believe it was Jackson County, but it looks like Swain County has a good bit of NXDN stuff. That may be what it was.
