When is encryption to start. As of today, they are still in the clear.

The encryption being talked about currently, encompasses all Law Enforcement. How it's rolled out is yet to be seen, by zone? Or all at once. Once every radio has been upgraded or touched.
It will be just like LCWC/York/Delco/Berks/Cecil and beyond.
No LE.

I wonder what the quotes actually were and why they went with the way more expensive route.

More places need to learn from Delco. Just because everything CAN be locked down doesn’t mean it SHOULD be locked down. Sadly I guess they’ll be the outlier. Not a trend setter.

Because its one of the few areas left where the powers to be have not caved to the demands of outside influence, but has compromised on a solution that works for all.

Anywell. Back to Chester. I know it takes someone’s time and money to do and isn’t just someone pressing a few buttons but I still wish they would at least add a TG on the P25 with an automated voice dispatch once they go alpha.

3AM in a dead sleep the alpha pager or my phone alerts isn’t waking me. Even if it did it’s a struggle to read it. I’d much rather have the voice auto stored that I can hit replay on and listen to as I regain consciousness. And the voice pagers still wake me. My trusty old falling apart M5 and G1 still set to max volume blast me and the rest of the neighborhood out of bed very easily.

A few years ago one could have said the same for Bucks County. Now all LE on their system is encrypted. Could be just a matter of time for Delco so don't be too smug.

Not trying to derail the topic, but how is the progression of alpha paging going? I just threw the dispatch channel on and I haven't heard any alpha pages.

Last night county commissioners approved the purchase of APX N70 units to be exchanged and deployed to PD departments throughout 2026. As well as full encryption across all PD talk groups.

You can’t even find the bids for the RFP and see what was chosen and how many millions there was between bids …………..
