Close Call

If you put a pre-selector on the 396T, you can pick up a 5 watt HT 3+ blocks away with no problem what-so-ever. However a tunable pre-selector can costs more than the 396T......

I don't want this to sound like a challenge (because it isn't). But have you actually tried this? What kind of preselector did you use? I've always wanted to put ears onto my scanner for Close Call and Signal Stalker II but of course it's just too expensive. But I'd like to know how others' results were with them.
