By Coatesville Fire Department August 5, 2010 On August 5Th, 2010 The Washington Hose Company Ambulance Division and Westwood Fire Police were dispatched to cover Westwood Fire Company Ambulance on an auto accident on Lincoln Highway and Old Lincoln Highway.
While enroute to the call the Chester County 911 Center advised Ambulance 41-1 that there was one subject trapped. This upgraded the assignment bringing in the Westwood Fire Company for their Rescue and Brandywine Medic 93. Ambulance 41-1 arrived and confirmed 1 female subject trapped in the vehicle and advised Rescue 44 they would have to cut the roof off of the vehicle to safely extricate the patient.
Rescue 44 arrived and immediately requested an Engine from the Sadsburyville Fire Company for manpower assistance. Rescue 44's crew put the Hurst tools into service cutting the vehicles roof while FF/EMT schreiber was inside the vehicle caring for the patient. Engine 31-2 arrived and their crew pulled an 1 3/4 hand line while also assisting with the extrication.
The patient was extricated and placed onto a backboard and immediately loaded into Ambulance 41-1 for transport. FF/EMT Schreiber and Medic 93 assessed the Patients injuries and determined that the patient could be transported to Brandywine Hospital.
