I am trying to get cp210x drivers to load but I find no com ports in device manager. I have checked on show hidden devices but no luck. I have tried on my old desktop, new desktop and a new laptop. I have plugged in my usb to uart cable to computer but not to radio. So I am looking for help. Is cp210x my only option to connect my yaesu ftdx10 to my computer ?

Are you loading the driver that you downloaded from Yaesu's website?

Did you install the driver before connecting the radio to the computer?

Because of the chips used for serial communications in the radio, you must use the driver specified by the radio manufacturer.

I found that to update the firmware on my FT5D and my FT70D handhelds, I had to first install a driver for the radio itself. I had the same issue until I discovered the driver doesn't show up in the Device Manager until the radio is connected and turned on.

Your post was moved from Amateur Radio General to Amateur Radio Equipment which is a more appropriate forum for an equipment-related question such as yours.

Dumb question......Is the radio powered on? Cable has to be connected radio and radio powered on for the comport to appear.
