COMET BNC-24 Dual Band Antenna

Has anyone taken the BNC connector off of one of these? I would like to replace with a different mount and don't want to tear it up trying. I assume the whip threads in, there are flats on the connector but, with light force nothing happens.

Why not just use an adapter? I'm sure one exists for what you want to do.

There is an adaptor. But it will add to the electrical length because it does not receive a ground return from the radio. They are BNC to MX adaptors and are sold on ebay. The BNC shell will float when attached to a Saber radio.

I found another antenna manufacturer who sells interchangeable 1/4 wave whips and helical. Their MX and BNC adaptors are interchangeable and there is a small brass bolt where the antenna threads to it. No one sells a 5/8 wave UHF antenna with an MX stud base from what I have researched. So having the Comet BNC-24, I am hoping to adapt to an MX stud and trim the whip to resonate at 467.6 MHz.
