The repeater team must be doing a good job if you’re able to hit it . I would let them know. It is great to know where the fringe areas are.

Yeah, both the VHF and UHF repeaters have very good range. Their antennas are on a tall tower on the top of a tall building.

i am kind of in the same boat.
My house is at the base of a local high spot. Right by the house the hill starts up. Once im up there---
I can see basically horizon to horizon. It appears I can see across the tops of them of the nearby mountains
( 10-20 miles away)
My neighbor gave me 4 sections of old tower. Hinged at the bottom with a steel plate. im in the process of sandblasting and painting the four 10 foot sections. Im going to try to install it on top of the hill and rig it like a flag pole--- and instead of a flag I am going to try an 80 meter dipole. Then run 6 inch ladder line up the hill to it. it looks like about a 100 yard run. I figured coax would eat up to much over that length......
Still sandblasting---- but I expect it may work well.......

100 yards is a long haul for coax. Ladder line is the way to go, even then, you will still have losses.

How fat should my wire be or the ladder line ? I will only be at about 120 W ( No amp at the moment)

You could possibly go with 150 feet of good coax and the rest ladder line. That may cut some loss out, just have to try it and see.
Good luck and 73!
