• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Commander II not working with XTS5000

I recently purchased an XTS5000R with FPP (Model H18QDH9PW7AN) and Flash Code 5A0001-001106-8
I had an existing Commander II mic that works perfectly with my XTS3000
When I hook the same micup to the XTS5000 it does not function.
When searching through the Astro25 CPS i cannot find anything that allows me to "enable" a mic. What am I missing? I dont want to purchase a new mic if I dont have to.

Thanks
Jeffrey

To my knowledge, they are totally separate radios. I was informed that an XTS3000 is actually an Astro Saber on steroids. The 5K is a totally different animal.

Yes sir you are correct, they are completely different radios. However, all the documentation i read on the commander II mics states that the mic is supposed to be compatible with the xts3000 and xts5000. Was hoping that i was missing something

What do you mean it doesn't function? Does nothing on the mic work? Are your contacts clean?

Yes sir, nothing on the mic functions, none of the buttons, including the PTT. I cleaned all of the contacts on both the radio and the microphone and tested it on my XTS3000 and it functioned flawlessly

The Commander 2’s should absolutely work with both the XTS5000 ( as well as the 3000 and even the MTS/HT1000’s the mics will work but the volume / side buttons won’t work ).

Something’s definitely up with your 5000.

In Astro 25 CPS there is a checkbox for the RSM to control channel/volume, I believe it's under radio wide settings/advanced; I'll double check tomorrow. You definitely need to check that box.

Just a heads up to everyone who responded. I ended up reaching out to the gentleman that sold it to me. He changed out the case and it began working immediately. Sounds like the connector going from the accessory panel to the radio was bad.
He did tell me that the commander mic I had purchased had a faulty mic as well
Thank you to everyone for helping me out with this
