The module you linked to is a great one, but huge compared to the chipset I am referring to. The chipset I work with is about 10mm x 10mm.
Well...........you should be good for a hundred or so then. The whole scanner really could have been made about 3/4 of an inch thick if you didn't want a DIN/ISO size package. I guess it is reall just a 396 spread out onto one board and put inside a tin box. TeeHeeHee:lol:

I am honestly wondering who would be interested in an internal GPS module for the 996. I am guestimating a price of about $100 and it would include the GPS antenna and all hardware to install in. That price is not solid, it might be a little less.

I would design it all in-house and distribute through my company RPC Electronics.

Anyone interested?

Well I would be interested but you are a day late and a dollar short. I already bought that one that I linked, got shipping confirmation today. GPS plus antenna from ebay came to 135CAD and it didn't phase me a bit. Depends on how much disposable income folks have I guess. By the time you have it all developed maybe the economy will be turning around. I don't mind spending buckets of money myself since I gross 96K/yr and have no worries about job security, they have postings all the time looking for more of me.

I bet you will have to be under 100 by a fair bit to interest most folks.

Once it is set up you should be able to just put a jumper to a second scanner too and run both I would think. I am definitely in the market for a 15 to stack on top of the 996 in the Santa Fe.
