• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Let's start over. Follow these steps, then report back. Don't skip any steps.

1) Unplug the programming cable
2) Uninstall APX CPS
3) Uninstall the Motorola Driver Package if it's still installed after Step 2
3) Reboot the PC
4) Leaving the cable unplugged, reinstall APX CPS
5) Verify that the Motorola Driver Package is correctly installed after Step 4
6) Plug the programming cable back into a USB port (2.0 would be preferred), then connect the radio (radio should be off)
7) Verify that within a few seconds of turning the radio on, you get a blue popout from the right side of the screen asking about the network it just detected...you can select NO for this
8) If you do NOT see that popout, then open Device Manager with the radio still on and connected
9) Look under Network Devices and make sure you see Motorola APX Series Radio
10) If you do NOT see Motorola APX Series Radio under Network Devices, then you likely have a hardware issue somewhere along the line

CPS connects to the radio as a network device. If you still have problems after following the instructions above, flush the DNS cache and renew. Use ipconfig /all to reveal all of the IP addresses active on the PC. Make sure that no other device is on the same subnet as the APX.

I just followed your steps. I uninstalled everything including the V14 driver and rebooted my laptop. Then I reinstalled APX. Apparently it's missing the driver file. This should be the problem

Umm....are you using VPN software? If so, turn it off and then try to read the radio again. It should work fine after that. I think the issue is a network problem. I have to turn off my VPN to use the CPS for my APX7000XE.

CPS installs the drivers. You don’t need to be installing anything separately. The radio is detected and an IP address is assigned when it is connected. Usually this type of problem is related to an IP address conflict. That’s why vagrant asked if you were using a VPN. If you’re using WiFi on the same subnet that could be the problem.

Look in the Windows event viewer and see if the address lease is denied when you connect the radio. The IP address of the APX will probably be something like 192.168.128.x.

OneWire is separate from the USB Ethernet driver.

Where did you get the CPS from? It is genuine straight from Motorola, or from another source?

I got it from my seller who sold me the radio. Hd claimed this cps is directly from MOL but now I am not sure if that is true. But anyway, there is the onewire driver. The driver from your pic seems missing ....

The only legitimate source of APX CPS is through Motorola themselves. Resale of the software is prohibited, so the copy you have is not legit, sorry to say. In that regard, all bets are off, and I won't be able to assist you any further. Good luck.

And if you could, do you mind help me delete this post? It seems that it can't be done from my side.

I dont know that exact error but every read problem I've had with Trbo or APX had to do with the IP network connection properties/configuration. The CPS readme file has a bunch of fixes that worked my problems
