I am looking to buy a pair of speakers for my computer, and I need some help in deciding what to buy. I want to pay around $20 to 30 bucks. So far I have seen Altec and Logitech speaker. The store that I seen the Logitech speakers showed on the package that they were " refurbished " which kind of makes me think that they have had a lot of problems with that brand. Any help in finding a good beand of speakers would be appreciated, max price at $50, thanks.

Personal experience with many inexpensive computer speakers - the Altecs always sound much better than the Logitechs. When possible test them out if the store has them set up - Target usually does, and some other stores.

I read your post then answered too quickly. you say about $20.00. this is cool. altec are a good choice. now about refurbished. because something is a refurbish doesn't always mean they are having problems. people return electronics for many reasons. either they can't get it going it doesn't sound right or they just don't want them after all. so they can't be sold as new they go to back to the factory of a refurbish person and they are checked out and returned to factory specs. i buy from EBAY all the time refurbished Logitech speakers i like the power house ones. so feel confident in your purchase.

We don' nee' no steeking speakers. I have my sound card in/out jacks connected to my hiney kicking home stereo system, sounds superb and audio cables are cheaper.

Depends on your listening taste!

It all depends on what you are trying to listen to. If it's just general internet audio stuff, then almost any speaker will do. If you plan on using them for any type of music such as videos or Mp3s, then Altec is definitely a better way to go. I'm an audiophile to a certain point and run a personal home recording studio so I'm used to different fidelity. But on my personl laptop, I use Altec Lansing VS 4121 speakers with a woofer and get excellent audio. I don't believe I paid more than $40 at a computer show. Definitely look around and take advantage of places that have them set up for you to hear. Here is a picture of the ones I mentioned!

HHHHHHMMMMM, I haven't bought speakers yet, but I will see if I can find the Altec Lansing VS 4121, that sounds like a good deal. What store did you get them in, was it a big box or a local electronics store?
