Long story short: We are trying to connect an SDS200 to a computer that has only a WiFi connection to the internet. We have a 4-port Ethernet switch in which the computer and scanner are both connected to, these are the only things plugged into the switch.

I set the SDS200 to DHCP and the network control panel on the computer is also set to DHCP. I go into ProScan and in Comm Port Settings I set the Port to URL and click on Auto Detect IP Scanners. ProScan does not see the scanner via this little network we created.

We tested both Ethernet cables and they are fine. We are getting steady lights on the switch and SDS200 Ethernet ports but no flashing activity indicators.

Oddly (or not...) we can see his OTHER SDS200 that is connected to another computer in a different room, that computer is directly connected to the network but that is not an option for this computer.

I recently read someplace that someone had done just what we are trying to do but for the life of me I cannot find that thread!

I am not a networking guy so need some help here...

I hook the scanner directly to the laptop's ethernet port, then manually assign both the SDS200 and ethernet port ip adreeses within the same range and subnets.

Thanks guys! It seems that I missed setting the Subnet, it had been 255.255.255.0, it should have been 255.255.0.0 since that Ethernet connector is not connected tot he outside world.
