I have a new Whistler 1065. I have the constant/non-ending static noise. I have it sitting in my house, so I know there is no other interference.Turning the squelch up or down doesn't help at all. Do I have an effective unit? I did do a factory reset. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i dont think there is anything wrong with your scanner. to properly set it up you must use the software mentioned in your previous post . you will need the proper programing cable it plugs into the pc if port on the front of your scanner . i use arc500 for my pro652 (radio shack version of your 1065) it is very easy but you must take the time to learn the software . dont feel overwhelmed by it. go slow and experiment. programming it manually is almost impossible. also open a radio reference account so you can download your local systems to your scanner.

I contacted the Whistler tech support & he sent me the download link. I still could not program it after downloading the software & he said that he could not figure out as to why there was so much static, even after turning the squelch button. So, I have contacted the seller from eBay, hoping I can get my money back from him, as I have only had it one week.

I definitely would not be buying a scanner from Ebay, unless maybe I knew the seller. Best to stick with a reputable place when purchasing scanner radios.

Now I am wondering where the poster in the other thread bought his. Kind of strange 2 of these posts with same issue pop up in the same time frame.
