Hi in this police chase video that happend in october in pomona, after the van t-bones the taxi you can see a COPS camera crew right behind the officers. (about 3:18 min into the video.) http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=f55_1194505969

Then in the newest cops blog they talk about the upcoming episodes coming up later in the season and they talk about the most amazing pursuit crash caught on COPS camera in pomona . I think this is the one. It is going to air sometime soon. http://blog.cops.com/

Looks to be a great episode. Saw it!

Dang! That was crazy, too bad the inoccent ones get hurt because the careless actions of the bad guys. Too bad too that pomona PD radio calls will never be within the reach of the general public EVER again. I figure they had their reasons to encrypt everything.

That was pretty wild. Regarding Pomona PD they can still be monitored, I'm listening to them as we speak.

The wreck that bozo caused should be counted as 3 strikes. No more chances to hurt innocent people.

I can also hear Pomona PD, didn't know they were encrypted but I can still hear them. Are they digital maybe?

Anyway, the guy they busted for stealing copper had a COPS t-shirt on. What an idiot

if they where encrypted you could not hear them.
In cryptography, encryption is the process of transforming information (referred to as plaintext) using an algorithm (called cipher) to make it unreadable to anyone except those possessing special knowledge, usually referred to as a key. The result of the process is encrypted information (in cryptography, referred to as ciphertext). In many contexts, the word encryption also implicitly refers to the reverse process, decryption (e.g. “software for encryption” can typically also perform decryption), to make the encrypted information readable again (i.e. to make it unencrypted).

Encryption has long been used by militaries and governments to facilitate secret communication. Encryption is now used in protecting information within many kinds of civilian systems, such as computers, networks (e.g. the Internet e-commerce), mobile telephones, wireless microphones, wireless intercom systems, Bluetooth devices and bank automatic teller machines. Encryption is also used in digital rights management to prevent unauthorized use or reproduction of copyrighted material and in software also to protect against reverse engineering. so the bottom line here you or I could not understand or listen to anything encrypted.

Yeah that was crazy! LMAO at the guy wearing the cops shirt. Did you guys like the spokane police chase? That was all over the fields and throught trees, and then the police car fire was even more crazy. I remember watching the news report about that. The officer told reporters that he had the cops crew with him and they were estatic at what was happening, calling their producers during the fire. Here is the raw footage of that. pretty interesting. After you watch this video what do you think? http://www.krem.com/video/featured-index.html?nvid=173351

Different Perspective

The Pomona TC is unfortunate, but a fairly normal occurrence as a pursuit termination.

The Spokane car fire was predictable and funny, good thing no one was hurt.

What I found most interesting about the Pomona episode was that the CHIEF of Police was out on patrol and in fact initiated the pursuit in his plane jane patrol car. He was the chubby guy. GOD BLESS him for not sitting on his ass in his office and getting out there to see what's really going on in the streets!!

Also are the other channels besides dispatch encrypted?
You might want to check the database...

99% of the time, Pomona PD's dispatch TG is NOT encrypted, it's "in the clear" P25 digital.

However, the records, secondary, and tac channels (the ones listed in the database) ARE P25 encrypted.

Thanks for posting these links before the episode was aired Saturday night. It was very interesting to see the same collision from an on the ground perspective. I hope the cab driver made it through the experience without too much trouble. I'm glad he didn't have a rear seat passenger.

Whew! (dispatch just digital)

I was hoping the database was wrong, last time I tried everything was digital and encrypted.
The database says:
"Latest News Update Posted on 2007-09-10 14:37:40
Pomona ICIS Site 005 was monitored on September 9, 2007 and every talkgroup was encrypted, even Police Primary (Blue-1). "

Now if I can only wake up tommorow and hear OC sherrifs, oh wait it was only a dream.........
