I know it's an ADJUST MODE, I've told that to you over half-a-dozen times in previous threads and you said it made no difference.

I am asking what you are doing with the OFFSET. Where are you putting that in your scanner/software?

rdale WOW for some one who claims to know it all......

The OFFSET/STEP on a uniden scanner lets say the 996T is in the band plan set up for the P25 mode however MECA or what ever they are calling them selfs these days is set by the CC data so what ever you set it at does not matter because the scanner will grab that data on the CC and change it back and set it to what the system is doing. And yes there is a band plan for True 9600 P25 systems but as stated most of the time it is set by the CC data of the system

MECA BAND PLAN
851.00625 / 6.25
762.00625 / 6.25

So for Tim Reband 6.25 step and before reband 12.5

I know that. That's not what I asked.

however MECA or what ever they are calling them selfs these days is set by the CC data so what ever you set it at does not matter

Which (if you recall in the very first post of the thread) I said as well, and said that it had no impact on the reception.

because the scanner will grab that data on the CC and change it back and set it to what the system is doing.

So again, you agree with me that setting the threshold doesn't affect scanning.

Where were we ;)

Sometimes I just have to laugh.

rdale,The threshold has been set and again no diiference in the voice and a lot of garbbling in the voice and it is not clear.

I know. I told you it had no impact, I told you it would not change your reception or anything else since the control channel determines what the offset will be.

Rdale, After being told that I need to buy a outdoor antenna along with getting the best coax LMR-400 to feed the antenna then aim it at the Traders Point tower site or the Butler University tower site did nothing. I sent the antenna back along with the coax and got a full refund. I did not need a outdoor antenna as I told you all along. I do not use a *Paperclip in my Mom's basement* for 800Mhz. I live in my own home that is a two story home near 79Th and Michigan Road. As far as the settings yes it does. My area will not get a CC channel at 7900 North Michigan Road. This is a Black hole as we have all types of Radio and Tv Transmitters along with a cell phone tower in the NW corner of 79Th and Michigan Road. All of these towers produce a 24/7/365 RF product that will not allow IDPS(MECA) to be received in my area. I live WEST of 79Th and Michigan Road west of all the towers and I still have problems getting IDPS. No outdoor anennas will help in this area. My Uniden 996T does have settings on it for IDPS.When the Digital AGC Responce time is set to +3 and the threshold is set at 7 I hear everything just fine.Yes these settings do have a effect on this.If the settings are not set up in the 996T you will not hear ANYTHING. Yes this does have a IMPACT on Receive. Fellow scanner listeners from all across Metro Indianapolis/Marion County over a number of years have sent mt e-mails asking me WHY they cannot hear IDPS. I did post a list of locations where a scanner will not DECODE IDPS across the county. I will re-post those locations for your infomation.

Rdale, list of locations where IDPS cannot be decoded by a digital scanner. 1.Norrthwest Side 7900North Michigan Road 2.Marion/Hendricks County line east of 8800West and1600North,3.Southwest Side near Indianapolis International Airport 4. 6200 North Broad Ripple Ave. 5.7100 North Keystone Ave. 6.Broad Ripple Ave and Winthrop Ave. 7.I-465 and Mann Road 8.6800 West Washington Street(West side of Indianapolis) With 8 locations posted as you can see OTHERS not only myself have problems hearing IDPS. It is not just with our scanners. Metro Officers along with Fire and EMS are also having problems on the Northwest Side of Indianapolis inside Wall Mart at 3221 West 86Th Street. IDPS Radios will not hit control for Police or Fire and EMS and the officers along with Fire and EMS have to call control by a cell phone. The next time you come down from Michigan Rdale why do not check these locations out for yourself and you will see that the facts are very clear.Metro Police and Fire cannot get the handheld radios to hit control and the MDT'S show that they are *Not getting a signal* on the MDT'S. IDPS is aware of this but the officers have been saying on the air to control"I cannot get in to you my radio will not work* will call you by cell phone. Yes there is a problem, if there was not a problem the officers would not be talking about this 24/7/365.There is a major Black hole in the area of 79Th and Michigan road. IDPS has had* numerious reports about this area from IMPD Fire and EMS but refuse to deal with the officers request to fix the problem*. Furthmore you are most welcome to visit my backyard and hear this for yourself.*** Member GTO 04*** has been the only one that has been to my home and has heard this. Also others in the Metro Indianapolis/Marion County area are welcome also to see what is going on here for themselves.Thank You.

You were also told many times to change the P25 threshold, which you eventually did and apparently it worked.

You were also told that the offset (the entire point of your thread) would not work, and it didn't.

Coincidence?

No one ever said anything about a threshold adjustment. Someone should have said something instead of me spending money on a outdoor antenna being with LMR-400 low loss coax that did not do nothing. Glad I got all of my money back. I was told by W8FCC that is 6.25 as I found that on my own way before his post.$350.00 cash back to me as I was told that I had to have a antenna to *Fix this problem*.Again I do not use a Paperclip for a antenna for 800Mhz in my Mom's basement and now I can hear both Control and the offficers portables just fine. 6.25 was the correct answer but know one would post this. Thank You.

6.25 has nothing to do with programming your scanner, or the reception.

Nothing.

Yes it does, It works for me WITHOUT A OUTDOOR ANTENNA.6.25 off set and set up the P-25 adjustments. If anyone needs to know how to do this please refer to your owners manual for your scanner.

No, it doesn't.

6.25 off set

Putting that in your scanner has no impact. As W8FCC also agreed with me about -- putting it in the scanner has no impact.

It is based not only on the 6.25 issue but also changing your P-25 settings and truning up the threshold on the scanner.Once all (3) issues are addressed then the problem is FIXED without a use of a expensive outdoor antenna that YOU DO NOT NEED.

W8FCC is the one who agreed with me by telling you that setting a 6.25 offset has no impact at all on any part of scanning. I have been in that area before, and the reception was poor in spots, and setting 6.25 would not have impacted anything.

In your particular location, if the threshold is all you needed then you're set. Many spots need an outdoor antenna as well (and it doesn't have to be expensive.)

Thread Closed and Some Public Warnings

Fellas, I have done my best at avoiding coming into the Indiana forum for quite some time here, but the situation right now is that some "outside" help is going to be needed here so now you have to live with me for a bit.

Tim, you have a hard head and I am not going to put up with it. If you continue to troll the forum with your nonsense, you will be banned. This is your last warning and is given to you in the open so that there is no misunderstanding.

Rob, you are a trouble maker also, do you ever wonder why folks pick on you? Even though your information is usually spot on, you tend to set off folks because of your style. I suggest you take a break.

w8fcc, for a user with FCC in their userID, you certainly are less then knowledgeable. I think that the system we are referring to is Indianapolis Department of Public Safety TRS. If so it is, as you noted, a P25 system; where the frequencies came from are irrelevant. All 800 or 700 MHz P25 systems have a 6.25 kHz channel spacing. They always have, they were never rebanded, nor did they ever have a 12.5 channel spacing. Please don't confuse the less knowledgeable with incorrect information.

To everyone else in this topic, some of you were just innocent bystanders, some were actually trying to help, some were rabble-rousing. The staff does not have the time to spend watching everyone's every move so, to the folks that reported this nonsense, thank you for taking the time to do so. To those that enjoyed this little diversion, I suggest you find some other amusement to take up your time.
