I downloaded Sentinel to my laptop, worked at programming locations and frequencies into a new SD card, installed in my SDS200 . . .and the screen shows it is scanning, BUT it does not receive ANY broadcasts . . .
I set squelch to "1", checked my antenna and cable . . .no receive at all . . .
re-installed the old SD card, and it receives normally . . .
re-installed the "new" card . . .the screen shows it is scanning, but no receive . . .
in my programming, what did I not "turn on" . .??
Since, apparently, the "old card" works, but the "new card" apparently does not (not receiving anything?), there must be a difference in programming between the two cards. For your "new card", how did you create it? Did you append systems from the main database in Sentinel? Use some software other than Sentinel (such as ProScan or ARC536)? Or did you manually create the programming, either in Sentinel, or (less likely) directly on the scanner via the keypad?
The "Nothing to Scan" page that
dmfalk linked has a number of things to check. While you may not be getting the "nothing to scan" message on the scanner's display, something (likely multiple things) is either missing on your "new card", or entered incorrectly (or incompletely). Your card is evidently not "blank"; if it was, you
would get the 'nothing to scan' message. But something is either missing or entered incorrectly. The "Nothing to Scan" page gives you items to check & verify.
One of the most common errors is programming a trunked system without the correct sites for your area. On a statewide (or large regional) system, when you append it from the main database, Sentinel includes
all of the sites, not just the ones in your immediate area. Too often, users start deleting the extra sites (or setting them to 'avoid'), and in the process, delete, or turn off (avoid) the sites near them. If you are using location control, make sure that you have your correct location, and desired range, set in your profile in Sentinel. Also, make sure that location data is present in all your programmed systems. Location details are needed for sites on trunked systems. It's also needed for Departments, both those for trunked systems as well as channels in conventional (not trunked) systems.
Post a copy of the programming of your "new" card. Instructions on how to do that are
here. If you'll post the uploaded file, and also clarify (roughly) where you are, and what you are trying to monitor, somebody can take a peak & look for errors & omissions.
