I have the same problem I put a new SD card in my radio. It works for about 24 hours and then I woke up this morning and it said corrupted it's been doing it for a while. Is there an issue with the radio or the card?
Are you doing any kind of recording or using replay? I've heard stories that when either of these options are used and power is lost to the radio, it can corrupt a card. Something about not fully complete the write process.

Are you using a high endurance card? San Disk makes some fairly reliable cards. As time goes along, it is getting difficult to find small enough capacity cards for scanners.

yeah i'm not sure I'm not home but when I get back, I will check in a few days. That's the only Radio that gives me trouble. The SDS 100 works fine.

Any chance that the scanner may lose power briefly enough to corrupt the card when it's trying to record for the "replay" audio? Just to check, you might want to turn off "replay". That's in the settings menu. Might not be your problem, but at least you could rule that out.

I bought a SDS200 from a guy and it displayd SD card error 1, 109 from time to time and I then reformatted the card using SD Formatter and used overwrite mode that then writes to each memory cell and if it detects a bad cell it will flag it so it wont be used.

But I still got that error and when I took out the SD card, it was Unidens original card, it had some condensation or even some sort of oily film on it. I cleaned that off and I have a can of compressed air that I used in the scanners card holder and so far it seems to have fixed the problem.

Did you reformat the SD Card, and. Make a backup?

His business practices (like being condescending), aren't the best, but. He knows his stuff.
I beg to differ . . .I paid him to program an SD card with 5 counties with fire, police, EMS, and utilities . . .
. . .when I got the card, there was only 3 counties the scanner would receive . . .
. . .and when I complained . . ."it was your fault, you didn't install the card correctly" . . .

Another point on SD cards. Go for a good quality card. The cheap cards often have slow read/write speeds.

The fastest way to corrupt a SD card is to try and read and write to it at the same time. The SDS series of scanners may switch from reading to writing to the card faster than the card can handle the transition.

For anyone getting a preconfigured card I recommend you read and save the card with a computer this way you have a backup should something go wrong. Also occasionally reading and saving your SD card is a good idea, especially for our European members where the a database is not as updated as the NA database.

He failed to deliver at several points in the transaction.
You requested 5 counties, but only got three.

How would a reasonably intelligent think that the "card was installed wrong", which resulted in the "missing counties"? Those 'extra counties' can't erase themselves just by installing the card. Obviously, they were never programmed, as you originally requested, but he's looking for excuses to claim, falsely, that he did not perform his part of the transaction.

That's definitely someone that "knows his stuff".

His business practices(like being condescending), aren't the best, but. He knows his stuff. So, I look at it 50/50. I was leery, too. About allowing him access to my PC. I looked at it introspectively. I am thankful I was giving him permission to access my PC. Instead of it being a hacker I was unable to block.
He may know his stuff, but if he has the attitude that gumball mentioned, his "stuff" is garbage. I don't care. There are plenty of reputable people and places you can have a card preprogrammed. Does this genius with the attitude have a RR account?

@Gumball928 are you all set now? Was your neighbor able to help or do you still need help with the card?

The cards the Uniden comes with are garbage. I have replaced all mine. This "doctor" should've have upgraded the card as well, if he was charging to program it. Guy sounds like a sheister.

I am not disagreeing with you. I was just trying to get @Gumball928 to program it himself, since. Pre-programmed SD cards are only good, as long as a system doesn't make any changes.

His blaming for why, it wasn't working. Is why, I said. He is condescending.

Yes, The SD Cards from Uniden aren't good. I replaced the 4GB SD Cards in both my scanners. With 32GB SD Cards

He should have upgraded it.

The fastest way to corrupt a SD card is to try and read and write to it at the same time. The SDS series of scanners may switch from reading to writing to the card faster than the card can handle the transition.

SD cards have a controller in them that manage everything including switching between read and write using the proper timings.
The SD card are read, you'll notice that when you enable a new favorite list, and that data are then put into RAM memory for quicker access. So it is pretty much just the audio recording that have constant access to the SD card and it is a super slow transfer rate needed for audio files of 0.1Mb/s. You can use the slowest available SD card you can find and it will work as the controller in the SD card manages the memory integrity.

You will only notice a speed difference when using an external SD card reader and not so much using the scanners own interface as it is much slower and doesn't even come up and match a low speed SD cards own read and write speed.

Agree 100 percent. Larger cards may cause slower start up and unless you’re recording it’s not needed. My SDS 200 original installed card still humming as I don’t interact with it. The use of SD card is 25-30 years old and in need revampe.

Thank you, I just got a card reader, and my "computer geek" friend just installed Sentinal.

We will work on it. If I get lost (probably) I will ask for answers.

I am impressed at how many helpful members on this forum . . .Thank You . .(y)

Try cleaning the contacts on the card and card holder.
