I just worked a submission to add the concessionaire frequency to the business section of the county listing.

In looking at the database Klamath Falls is about 70 miles from crater Lake so I’m out of range for my SDS.100 other than perhaps FD county repeater frequencies that border on the park

there might be some NPS frequencies that are active in the park. I don’t know who runs the paramedic service if it’s contract

But I do know that they get quite a few calls for the trail that goes down to the lake for people who have fallen an injured themselves.

I believe that EMS is provided by the NPS. That usually means the NPS is also providing transport of patients as well. I'm not sure if Crater Lake NP is an exclusive jurisdiction or a concurrent. It is old enough that it is likely an exclusive jurisdiction, which means the state/local agencies have no jurisdiction in the park unless specifically requested for mutual aid. The park only has one repeater as I recall. It is shown in the database. I haven't been there since I was a teenager in the 1960's, so I don't know how extensive the concessionaire facilities are.

I've never been able to find a list of exclusive jurisdictions within the NPS. In the west the older parks (prior to about 1940) are usually exclusive jurisdictions and the NPS rarely contracts out any of its emergency services. The smaller park units in the eastern U.S. will have concurrent and proprietorial jurisdictions and will contract out EMS and possibly fire protection. The smaller park units consist of small national monuments, battlefields and other historical units. When I was in forestry school (university) in the 1970's we used to humorously refer to such units as "cannonball parks" as they used to have signs and flagpoles anchored by welded piles of cannonballs.

Additional, the database shows a remote base on a location called "Watchman." If anyone gets close to this park, try to listen and figure out whether this is not a remote base, rather, a repeater.

I just made a database submission for 166.2375 as the repeater input and to change the Type as RM based on what you posted.

We are going to Crater Lake for a few days, anything interesting in the area to program into my SDS-100?
Did you make the trip yet? You must realize the elevation is really high. You might pick up Klamath Falls and stuff to the west, like Grants Pass and Medford. And, it is vey quiet, RF wise. For an extreme DX challenge, listen on 146.7. That is from Pine Mountain, east of Bend. Or, 145.45 on top of Mt. Bachelor. There is a bunch of radios on Bachelor, it might be LOS to Crater, but still far off.

Watchman and Mt Scott should be the two repeaters on 170.1000
