I recently came across some interesting information that I had not heard about regarding the CREST fire paging system. It looks like they plan on eventually switching over from analog to P25 digital for fire department notification.

Another unexpected expense item was the Board’s requirement to enter into a lease arrangement for the new digital pagers associated with the new Crest emergency communications system. The annual charge to the Board’s budget is about $3000.

The C.R.E.S.T. roll out of the P25 digital radio system is only months away. Our department will be outfitted with new Motorola radios through the CRD’s 9-1-1 levy. Also, with the fire pager capital reserves we have placed our final order for replacement pagers that are capable with the new digital system. The advancements with the new digital system should help strengthen our islands quality of communications for years to come.

We will also move forward with replacing the existing pager system used by our fire agencies.

These are already in use.
On my last visit a few weeks ago to Victoria, all pages on the new 700 P25 were coming through the 700 MHz freq. The scanner would stop on the tg and you would hear the page tone, then the call to the location.

I found tg's in 1100-1200 group.
