53 new recruits just hit the air to activate their assigned radios with NCC.

They have 4 digit badge numbers, at least for now.

Graduation is on the 24th, so it'll be "Amateur Hour" for a few months on the air.

I wish them luck! (y)

I always wondered if there was any rhyme or reason to the way they assigned badge numbers
The only pattern I've seen is that Sergeants are 1XX and 2XX and upper ranks are 2-digits.

No noticeable pattern with the patrol ranks.

We'll see what badge numbers the new recruits get.

The "Recruits" (in the Academy) have alphabetical badge numbers #68xx. After graduation, I am pretty sure the "Trainees" (400+hours of FTO), choose their badges from the available pool (#300-1500). I think those who had family previously in the CSP can get those numbers if available. Wouldn't be surprised if choices are made in order of graduation rank.
The graduation is at the State Armory this time.

that's cool that they're allowed to pick their number, I wasnt sure if they had like a bank of numbers for each class like 1240-1290 for class X, 1150-1220 for class Y, etc.
learn something new every day

Should have been 61 new Troopers on the road, but 8 of them felt the need to cheat on exams and were bounced from the Academy.

I read the story to indicate that they looked at the exam that had been posted online at a practice exam website after being told not to. The reason for the dismissal was that during the investigation, they were not truthful about their actions.

Cool.

That list will let me compare the names I heard when they announced their names and other details over the air yesterday.

Thanks, Chris.
