According to the database it is a simulcast cell. There are six active frequencies that are the same at all six sites. All towers use the same six licensed frequencies that are controlled from a GPS time reference to make sure they are all in sync with each other.

EMS TG 45024 is definitely being tested more than the other groups. FD is going station by station for training and will be going up soon. I believe I also heard Dare MedFlight doing a test transmission when coming back from Norfolk General the other day. The PD is still doing some testing but I have not seen what TG they are using.

I'm still shocked that Dare County believes 6 channels will provide sufficient capacity!!! I fear that during the first "medium-level" surge event, the system will be inundated.

Is there any progress on the new simulcast paging channel?

Well, Mine roams across the state just fine... I have all VIPER cc's programmed in, and it switches towers with no problems....

I was just reviewing this thread for updates and caught this post... your 996 in fact does not "roam" the sites. You can turn on all the sites, and your scanner will listen to ones in range. However, the GRE radios' roam feature actually samples different control channels and compares their signal strength, and selects the best signal. Is the signal strength falls below a programmed threshold, the scanner will search for another stronger control channel signal. Just for clarification,

April start? Good. Gives me more time to get the new scanner, and figure out how to program it. This will be my first experience with digital trunking, talk groups and all the rest, so I'm preparing for a STEEP learning curve.

How do you know about this? Just wondering

yeah, back in Colington.

They were having some problems this morning on the first page outs not going out over the 800. I had to leave for work so I don't know if they got it all working or not. To be honest I haven't heard dispatch send a message over the 800, only between stations and portable units. I'll fire up unitrunker again tonight and see if anything pops up. Last night there was no 800 traffic while I was listening for Dare, just SHP, DMF, Wildlife. Today there was also a lot of Eastern EM chat (testing?) going on in addition to the usual stuff.

I have seen some stuff popping up on Dare COMM which sounds like it may be a county-wide chat TG from what someone was saying. Hoping they get it all switched over soon.

I've noticed both the Dare County live scanner feeds I used to monitor have ceased to exist, is this because the new system is difficult to monitor or maybe the feed providers didn't have the proper scanner?

whoever was providing the feed stopped doing it a few months ago. Not directly associated with the change because Dare didn't have everything set up back then.

Well, at least I can still listen to VIPER for the time being until they switch to MotoTRBO.

Now where would you have gotten the crazy idea that VIPER is switching
to MotoTRBO?
