Have you been able to sort this problem out. I had a similar issue and it turned out that I had the wrong password set in the darkice1.cfg file

Make sure it is the same password set for the icecast server - default is 'hackme' if you haven't altered the original settings of the icecast server.

itself but with the server you are streaming to. Please check host, port,
username, password, mountpoint,

Double check that everything is correct, see if that helps.

This worked for me

I have that same error. The IceCast server had my mountpoint as "/stream" I changed the darkice.cfg file mountpoint to "stream" and this worked
