I'm trying to set up a 246T for a friend. I've done a search on the problem, and I've turned off everything I could think of.

I was thinking of getting one for myself, but not like this :?

I've read http://www.radioreference.com/modul...viewtopic&t=16767&highlight=246+delay and still no help.

Is there anything in any software that makes it easy to find the problem? I'm putting in a few things by hand right now.

Not sure exactly what you're asking. :?:

I'm guessing that while in scanning mode, the radio in question isn't holding or delaying long enough on a system?

There is a "system hold time" which you can set and this essentially leaves the radio on scanning a system for a certain period of time (0 seconds for conventional and 1-2 seconds for trunked works pretty good).

There's also the delay time you can set to have the radio delay how long until it resumes scanning.

Just throwing these guesses out there... can you describe the problem or what you're trying to do? Thx

I was a little :x at this scanner when I wrote that. I'm better now :)

I've turned off everything I can think of, & set all delays to 0.

When I'm holding on a channel, trying to monitor an ongoing conversation, it mutes for about one second every five seconds. I just tested it while locked on a NWS transmitter less than 5 miles away and a local 900mhz CC. Using my stopwatch, it will mute about 1.5 seconds for every 4.5-5 seconds. I just checked and it also does it while monitoring a conversation on a 800mhz system (A rather long winded dispatcher :) )

I see firware 1.36 I believe I've read that it's 1.4? now.

This is a scanner that was one of several bought for employees where I work. I volunteered to program one for a friend. I'll advise them to update the firmware, as I'm sure they are all the same.

Any other answers, I'm all ears...................

Hello,

Check your unit and make sure Priority, Close Call, and Weather Alert Priority are OFF.

I've tried all of the above. I won't have access until this weekend. I'll try the firmware update, do a full reset, and program using a computer.

Thanks again..........

Close Call...almost certainly your problem...it sounds exactly like what you're describing...make sure there's no little icon in the bottom right corner. I know you said you checked, but double check...that's exactly what it does.

Same with the channel priority and WX priority. Those three are the only ones that can cause such a problem. Data skip will cause the scanner to start scanning again.

I double checked the CC, using the F= whatever key turns it off. Is there anything on the display that shows when any other pri. operation is active. I went through the menu and I'm pretty sure I turned off everything.

What did the 1.42 firmware change? Is it worth updating yet, or iare there any bugs?

If it would just stop "stopping", it would probably be a pretty good scanner, especially if I can keep using one for free :)

P.S. It's still hard not have banks & channels :?

You better go through it again because something is still turned on.

I'll update this Saturday when I have access to the scanner.

I do know I can see my radio ID on a phonepatch on my 900mhz system, pretty neat :D
