I hoping some one has a secret to reset my Trx-2. Last night I went to adjust it and when I touched it I drew a static spark off it and it went off. When I tried to restart it the "power on {release button }" screen comes on and just sits there. Almost acts like the button is not working. I've tried reformatting sd card , reloaded cpu and dsp firmware. Took out sd card left unplugged all night, nothing. Just hoping someone is smarter than me. Thanks

It's probably fried from the static discharge. A reset won't fix damaged components.

I would suggest calling Whistler technical support. I have found them to be very helpful over the telephone. Also, they have a software tool you can download from their software site that will "un-brick" your radio should their have been an update mishap. I wonder if this might work in this case. Anyway, give them a call. Good luck.

I had the same symptoms as you. Screen would come on and wouldn't boot. Turns out it was the power supply. As soon as I switched out the power supply with another 13.8V one that I had, the radio has worked fine again ever since.

Try this...

1. Unplug power cable from scanner.

2. Remove face plate from scanner.

3. Remove SD Card from scanner. (Put off to side.)

4. Hold power button "in" (on removed face plate) for approximately 20-30 seconds.

5. Re-install SD Card back into scanner.

6. Put face plate back onto scanner.

7. Plug power cord back into scanner.

8. Power up unit holding power button in until scanner tells you to release it.

9. If the above procedure doesn't work... repeat all of the above steps using a "new" SD Card and follow EZScan procedure for preparing a new SD Card for use with your scanner.

Don't throw old SD Card out just yet, try reformatting it first... and it may find it still works?
