• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Dek compatable with Motorola URC?

I have a apx7500 using a E5 head and a single Dek connected to a Motorola Universal Relay Controller but can not get the Dek to work with the URC as it doesn’t give me any AC options in the DEK menu on cps. If I program the P button on the E5 head I can control the URC fine so I know it’s not a communications issue. Is the Dek not compatible or am I missing something in the CPS. Currently I have the relays set up with AC to turn certain relays on and off then use direct status setting pointed to the relay number but only get a bonk and no action.

Did Motorola or any other party make a relay box to complement the X9000/Spectra DEK style switch box? the one that simply provided closures to a DB25 connector? I need something like that and would prefer off the shelf rather than craft one.

I never say one in the years we worked on alot of those. Most agencies ran a relay box built by Code3. We just took the 25 pin cable to it then hooked up the flying leads to a input. All inputs went to ground. They all ran the motorola siren so had 2 DEK boxes on the S9000 head. Was a nice setup. Somewhere in a box I think I have a handful of the switchboxes still.

I will have to look for the code3. I have a bunch of radio stuff I plan to remotely control. I have a nice NOS switch box HLN1206B . Still looking for the insert window for the lights above the buttons and ideas for custom labels. I assume that the window is same on a DEK box.

I dug around in my shop and dont find any of the code 3 paperwork for them odel we used. There are many different 12V relay boxes available now from cheap $30 ones up to pretty pricing race car units now online. I know Code 3 makes a "rocker max" that comes with a small control panel. Not sure if its still controlled by ground closure or not. If I was to do it again I'd probably g with Holly. They make the MSD 4 channel relay boards. They are good for 40 amps and solid little box. They come in 2 or 4 relay modules.
