As I understand it, the $365K is to address cost overrun, not to improve the current problematic system... can anyone confirm of correct me? $365K will not go very far when it is time to add a tower or two to address coverage issues. Also, is it true that the company installing and maintaing this equipment is over 4 hours away!!! will there be that much down time in the event of an equipment failure?

Thanks, so is that frequencies I can find ? and hear, I put all the new ones in my new trunk tracker a few weeks ago and had no problems, or is it all encrypted now ? I knew they were closing Sandwich T-com, but after several yrs. of being involved in EMS, not sure how good an idea it was, if we ever get a mass casualty situation in multiple places in the county, or major radio problems, I've herd how over whelmed Ken-com has gotten with severe weather.
Sorry for all the questions, I appreciate the help, my first scanner was Bearcat 210, and then few others, with simple programming, so still new to the updated technology.
I'm in Sandwich too, have been my entire life

It was a dumb idea. But, there’s more to it than just the dispatch consolidation. The “savings” gained by terminating the dispatchers is supposed to help offset construction costs to rehab the building purchased for use as the new police facility. There was a scheme in place to dispatch during daylight hours from Sandwich.
That said, you are going to need something capable of P25 Phase II to hear the new DeKalb system. The details are in the database.

I have a brand new Trunk tracker V BCD996P2 programed to the data base frequencies with the assistants of a uniden tech, it had been fine, until last weekend, I'm a half mile south of town, if they eliminated the transmitter on the water tower, maybe I'm out of range, and need an external antenna, I just remember a tech. from the old Johnson control Company told me years ago one problem with Sandwich, compared to Dekalb/Sycamore, we are down in a hole and signals go right over us, my reception of the south tower for fire isn't real good either, Yeah I remember when they first started talking about the financial side closing t-com and the new P.D.
I appreciate your help, thnaks

The one thing that comes to mind is simulcast distortion which the SDS series of scanners handles very well. Your 996P2 and the 536hp don't do as well on these systems.

I’m using two 536s: one on a discone 15’ and the other with a whip upstairs, and an HP2 on an Austin multiband antenna in the truck. I hear DCSO well on all of them. If you live in town, you should have no trouble hearing the Reimann tower.
Go back and import the system from RR into your scanner. I know that I had to fuss with it on the HP to make it play when I first entered it by hand.

Thanks, I just reloaded all the frequencies and it's working again, so I take it I'm stuck listening to county's traffic now too ?

Little update.. because of coverage issues.. The Sheriff is adding 50 mobile radios to their vehicles. Genoa is still on the old VHF because of coverage issues with the system due to a large hill in the line of site of the tower.. Also they are staying phase I because they cant get the Phase II to work as intended. The dispatch will be in the clear for now.. Only their "tac 2" Jail and a detective talkgroup are encrypted. Fire will stil be VHF for a while.. They hope to move FD's to the old Sheriff's frequency once all the PD's have moved to the new system.

I was in the area this week and got my SDR working on the DeKalb site. The interesting thing I noticed was the Band Plan. Base 762.00625, Spacing 6.250, Slot 1 and the same for Slot 2. Normally Slot 2 is 12.5

To clarify, the Band Plan for a single slot is 6.250, for a 2 slot it is also 6.250, normally it is 12.5. Maybe that is the reason they are having problems with phase II. Normally TDMA is 2, 6.25 time slots equaling 12.5
