I'm sure by now everyone has heard about the Crozer Health System closing along with all of the EMS units that they operated. This created a vacuum that some out of county companies took advantage of, however along with that they have changed a lot of the medic unit numbers to coincide with the changes.

I have updated the wiki the best I can, however it appears that VMSC of Lansdale is operating using both 200 and 400 numbers, so there's no real way to keep track of what the numbering system is. Out of the three digit numbers, the second two are the municipality code. So Medic 579 is Upper Darby, Medic 681 is Aston Twp, etc.

If anyone has any additions, let me know.

EDIT: Looks like the 200 units are the temporary medic units, operated independently but funded by the county for 90 days. If they become permanent units, I wonder if they will change numbers.

Delaware County Announces EMS Funding Agreement for Service Gap Coverage

Agreement brings in outside funding to protect municipalities and residents after Prospect hospital closures

Delaware County, PA. – Today, Delaware County Council, the Delaware County Legislative Delegation, and community partners are pleased to announce funding has been secured for four Advanced Life Support (ALS) vehicles. These additional service vehicles will be deployed to mitigate EMS service gaps due to the recent loss of Crozer EMS services, due to Prospect Medical Holdings recent actions to close two crucial hospitals in Delaware County. These ALS vehicles will begin servicing Delaware County on May 3rd, 2025, at 8:00 am. This significant funding announcement will cover EMS services for approximately three months to provide Delaware County municipalities the crucial time needed to strengthen EMS service capabilities.

“Delaware County’s leaders have been working around the clock to clean the mess left behind by Prospect’s desertion of our communities,” said Delaware County Council Chair Dr. Monica Taylor. “This funding will help our municipalities provide emergency service coverage and potentially save lives.”

For years, Crozer EMS provided critical emergency medical services to numerous municipalities across Delaware County, and most of these municipalities relied on this coverage to support local ALS services that were not available in local budgets. This new funding is a critical lifeline line for Delaware County municipalities, which have been further strained by the actions of Prospect Medical Holdings.

Funding commitments from the Independence Blue Cross Foundation, the AmeriHealth Caritas Foundation, and Jefferson Health have played a central role in bridging this gap in emergency medical services in Delaware County. The fund will be held at The Foundation for Delaware County, which is waiving all management fees to ensure that the full value of the contributions is used to address this critical health issue for our residents.

“Prospect may have turned their back on the community, but the actions of these partners show just how strong and resilient other community allies in Delaware County are,” said Delaware County Council Chair Dr. Monica Taylor. “I’m incredibly proud that these organizations share the same mission of caring for our neighbors, and I know our municipalities deeply appreciate their support as we help our residents navigate this challenging time. I also want to directly thank our members of the Delaware County delegation for their support as well in securing this crucial lifeline to support our communities.”
