Hopefully even with the fleet maps a little screwed up we can get most of the conversations.
Almost all of these seem to match up with conversations you would expect to get from the groups
mentioned in the alpha tags on the web site. Other wise I might have to start over. I thought this was supposed to just be a hobby. :>) Looks like perhaps columns 1 and 3 should pretty much match up, but I notice that the 200s and the 600s are a little off. Maybe that was due to the fleet map issue.

When I can make some sense out of my notes I will compare them to what you have listed for the RCS TRS.... there were conversations that were kinda baffling.... like the way the folks on 600-01 kept going to "Channel 4" but they were on the same TGID.... figured getting the KYEM/KYNG freqs sorted out would be of more interest, will tackle the rest this evening upoin return from Keeneland....

Actually that's a clue that the fleet map might be too large... or they could be using FRS/GMRS radios?
There is a Channel "4" in that group, most of them either went to CH 2 or cell phone. Interesting?
Could they have been talking simplex... Most trunked radios will also do conventional.

That's why I have the non-fleet map system in my scanner, because it will show a actual switch. But also from listening, those people don't know how to use radios, especially trunked ones.

Snip

You can get the whole conversation without the fleet map, you can even get it with the wrong fleet maps. Just leave it in digital...
The problem is labeling and figuring out which group is what. And without a proper fleet map, everybody is not on the same page.

For instance, 27200 which is the decimal ID for Guest services, translates into the following using the various Fleet Map settings.
341-0; 305-1; 302-4; 300-5; 320-2; 310-2; 310-1; 305-0; 302-2; 301-2; 300-10; 200-10; 000-13; 000-6.
From left to right, this is sizes 1 through 14.

341-0; 305-0; are obviously wrong. But that still leaves 12 possibly sizes.
If I choose size 1 it will display as 341-0
If I choose size 11 it will display as 300-10

We are both hearing the same thing, but seeing different indications on the scanner.
That’s why it is so important to have the same fleet map.

When they'd switch to "Channel 4" they were still talking on 600-01; same people with a continuation of the same conversation.... You aren't kidding about not being able to use radios--or cell fones.... some of the Shuttle Drivers on 600-07 were moaning that their cell fones didn't work when the helicopters were flying overhead "My fone drops out when a helicopter flies over me, especially down on this end of the parking lot (couldn't figure out where they were)." said one to his supervisor.... The TGIDs 213-01 and 208-01 are SDF.... they sound like terminal services: I'd almost bet Delta judging by the flights mentioned on 208-01 and Ground Crew on 213-01... still have more work to do...

Good day on the radio. Nothing incredible but,
Michael Jordan met with Calipari and wanted to try to leave immediately after the Derby race
They couldn't find Valerie Bertinelli
Friends of Mongiardo were very rude to the staff
They worked until 9pm, Jimmy gave the go ahead to leave
Some server is probably still looking for some tabasco sauce, she went on and on and on
An australian chick named Tracy is going to need a two week vacation after this to recover

Mainly this celebrity activity was on 607-1. Thanks newsalan for getting the fleetmap right.

And just in, at almost 2am
Andre Mcgee got thrown out of 4th Street live for throwing a drink or something on someone

Seemed slower than Oaks day , at least with the number of TGs active.
Its official. I am now a scanner geek.

I was busy yesterday morning working the Derby Breakfast at Farmington and when I got home I went to bed and took a nap and didn't do any monitoring (first time in several years). I did wake up in time to see the Derby itself though, I'm still waiting for my horses to finish. Hope ya'll had some good listening.

Yes, they were having trouble with cell phones, but not because of helicopters. I wonder do any of the companies bring in COWS. At thunder, texting worked fine.

The two talkgroups, 213-1, 208-1... This is interesting... because I never heard anything remotely related like this on my regular listening. Could one be a hotel service picking up at the airport. There were several (new) transportation vehicles, (vans & limos) at both the Brown and the Seelbach this week. Anyway, it seems to be just something that happens at Derby time or else they don't use radios much other times of the year. [Edit] I went back and checked and I do have them both logged, but no ID or clue... but now I do ;)

I double-checked the other TG that kept switching to CH4, anything that would match a legitiamte CH4 that leads to an incorrect fleetmap setting.

I guess our next step is to post here and come up with names and labels. I have some from Friday that I'll try and post later Sunday.

Yes, if you want to know the "real" story of downtown Louisville, 700-13 and 700-10 will fill you in. Now to complete the RCS Indiana system as well. I think that some of the radios can switch between the two systems. Just a theory right now.

There was one parked in the Longfield Lot near the Vehicle Tunnel to the Infield.... didn't pay attention to the provider, but I had no trouble with ATT all morning Friday even when the helicopters were flying overhead....

Agreed, let's use the forum to compare notes and then fix the data base... this is a really strange TRS.... Personally, I think this year was the best for listening from the past four because of the info shared in the forum so we have made some serious progress to figuring this thing out.... now if RCS will just leave it alone!

213-1, 208-1

This traffic only starts up late at night, and if you sneeze you miss it. At first I thought I had a bum frequency, and then I thought well maybe all the city names were code names for rooms at the downs or something. "2 pieces coming from -some city-" 'plane coming in from -------' .

Top ten RCS from yesterday through this morning. No traffic on 208-01 or 213. We will never know.

Ok, I'm going to check my notes, Steve I sent you an email with Block 6 and my RCS guesses to your email.

I am going to sit down and rethink this and post what I know...
Thanks for your list and hit counts, Chris... I'll post what I know of those tonight.
Steve and I and others have been trying to figure this system out for three years,
finally we are close.

But something is still not right... not making sense.

Does anyone else have input from this year's Oaks and Derby (and the rest of the Derby Festival) for the RCS system.... thanx to Alan and chirzby we are getting a solid handle on this thing... but need to have as much info as possible, especially IDs on the 600-XX talk groups. This thing is active all year long, but only super active during April thru Derby.... If you don't feel comfortable posting publicly send me an email or pm with the info while it is still fresh in your mind....

Thanx for all the help, especially Alan, whose brain has to be fried right now with the finer points of Type 1, Type 2 and Hybrid... And chirzby, welcome to the obsessive–compulsive world of scanning; you have gone beyond geek--and in less than a week! Just wait 'til it is time to map MetroSafe...

I also forgot about the old Nextel system, they might have been using that or switching to it for some traffic, it is a type I system, but not mapped or monitored much.
