DENVER - No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported in a fire late Thursday night which spread from a popular tattoo parlor into apartments above the store.

Firefighters were called to the fire at 11 p.m.

According to Denver Fire Public Information Officer, Phil Champagne, firefighters fought to keep the fire from spreading to nearby businesses.

Champagne said the fire started in Freaky's Tattoo Parlor on Ellsworth and Broadway and quickly spread into a four story building that houses 30 apartments above the store.

Champagne said at least four of the units in the apartment building are damaged and the tattoo parlor is a total loss.

There were no injuries to residents, Champagne said, but some cats were killed in the fire.

The Red Cross is assisting residents with other living arrangements.

Champagne said the fire is under investigation.
