Not too sure what you mean about it not showing as a trunked frequency.

There are only 4 frequencies listed for Rozet, you could go ahead and program them all in. It is possible they have switched the main control channel to another of the towers frequencies.

153.77750 153.92000a 154.62500 155.41500c

Once those are programmed in, you should be able to toggle between them in the system and see if any are decoding digital traffic. You could also program them in in analog mode and see if you hear digital traffic from the speaker. If so, then that is the correct frequency.

I was under the impression you were hearing WyoLink traffic already. If so, what tower was it off of?

All of the freqs under the rozet hill act as if there is nothing transmitting on the freqs. (Unused). Tried listening to them as analog, no digital sound or anything. I only hear the unused freq background noise, when the squelch is turned all the way down.

See im not sure what digital freq. i need to use to be able to listen to WHP. My scanner has an icon, (the letter "T"), means it receiving a trunked freq. but that does not show up when the rozet hill freqs are programed in.

The last time I monitored Rozet Hill, Oct 20, 2010, the control channel was 155.415, the alternate control channel was 153.92, the ID channel was 156.2175, and the voice channels were 153.7775 and 154.625. This probably does help does it? But I said it anyway, it was working just fine then. Tom

I listened to traffic all day today on Rozet Hill. Set us a P25 Auto on a GRE PSR-500 155.415000c and 153.920000a both with a wildcard and Talk groups. Radioshack should be the same. Snow plows for the NE quarter, school buses Sundance to Gillette to Casper, and Gillette PD normally on 800Mhz.
Here is what I have: The second line, 20083 is wrong in the RR Datebase. It is listed as Campbell County, should be WYODOT. Didnt ever identify 20100.

19083 CAMPBL PLOW1 -4 Rozet Hill Group
20083 WYODOT PLOWS NE -4 Rozet Hill Group
13056 CAMPBL CAT 1 -2 Rozet Hill Group
13057 CAMPBL CAT 2 -2 Rozet Hill Group
13058 CAMPBL CAT 3 -2 Rozet Hill Group
13059 CAMPBL CAT 4 -2 Rozet Hill Group
14900 CC School Busses -9 Rozet Hill Group On
14904 Gillette Police -2 GILLETTE SOUTH Group
20100 *ID 20100 -5 Rozet Hill Group

Ok, its halfways working. I had to drive over to wyodac for the trunked icon to show up, and then it started picking things up. I did see the talkgroup of 6400 which is "SALECS 3 Southeast (Glendo State Park)" but that doesn't make any sense.

Rozet Hill

So do i need to put in just the control channel for Rozet hill, or all of them? Becuase when I go into scan mode its not showing it as a trunked freq. (or is it not supposed to?)

I messed with that all weekend between Gillette and Rozet. I tried making duplicate TGRP entries with different TSYS for the different towers. Not much luck. The ROAM feature doesn't seem to work that way.

Yesterday I just added in the control frequencies of multiple repeaters to the TSYS in the 14904 TGRP. It works great, when I travel it just moves to the next one, i.e. Rozet hill. If I ever leave town in a different direction I'll just add more control channels, like Pumkin Buttes. I don't know if there is a limit.

This seems like the wrong way to go about it. I'd like to keep scanning Gillette when I go elsewhere. I know it can be done because I can get Park County Sheriff here.

If someone has a better way to program, please post. (GRE PSR- 500) Should be the same as a 197

As Tyytor said, it is because somebody is dragging the talkgroup to your tower. As a scannist, you can only hear the traffic that is on the tower.

For example, if you come to Casper and have the Casper Mountain repeater programmed, you will be able to hear ONLY Casper region traffic. But if a WHP officer from the Gillette troop comes down, he will "drag" his TG with him and you will be able to hear it on Casper Mountain. Same for anybody. And while you may temporarily be able to hear it, it is not something you can count on all of the time. Because as soon as he leaves the area, the tower will drop his group.

The state is trying to get folks to not drag their TG. If a Cheyenne police officer goes to a meeting in Cody and drags his TG, ALL of the Cheyenne PD traffic will be being broadcast to him the entire way. So each tower will be passing his traffic. He may be taking capability away from as many as 10-15 sites since they all have to relay the traffic. This places a huge burden on the WyoLink and is frowned upon. So you will rarely hear anybody drag traffic more than a tower or two away from their home area.

In Colorado on their statewide DTRS, if somebody drags traffic too far from where they are supposed to, the dispatchers can actually turn off the radio in question from anywhere in the state. AND THEY DO on a regular basis. They have that capability on WyoLink, but they have not had the need YET.

In conclusion, you will not be able to scan areas you are not in.

Thanks for the info. Over the weekend it sounded like school buses are a real problem. I listened to Casper, Gillette, Wright and more unidentified in every part of the state.

Hmmm, probably did not hear Casper school buses as they are still analog FM simplex 155.280.

ALTHOUGH, they can be heard in Newcastle. They have an amazing radio at the school building.
