SDS100 SCANNER
I have set up a conventional discover, in the Aircraft band from 118.000 MHz to 137-mhz, I made up a Favorite list with all my aircraft frequencies over 400. I set the discovery to new only so it would only log new frequencies that are not in my favorite list and ran the discovery and it's logging frequencies that are in my favorite list.
I went in and set the scanner To monitor the full data base and my favorite list and still the discovery is logging frequencies in my favorite list. Am I doing something wrong or is it not working right. Any help with my setup appreciated.

It cannot compare your findings with your favorite lists, only to the database.
If you are normally skilled to handle a text editor you could edit the database for your state to add the frequencies from your favorite lists.
The database are a plain text file that are pretty easy to understand. Copy one row and add and then edit only the frequency.
If you mess up you only have to download the complete database again to overwrite the old one. Or if you edit the DB directly on the SD card in the scanner you only have to choose "reconstruct" from the whole database that Sentinel have stored on the harddrive.

Thanks Ubbe I was under the impression it would also compare the favorite list, maybe when I get better acquainted with this scanner I'll try to edit the data base. Thanks for the information.

I once edited the DB in the HP-1 and managed to get it to work so that discovery skipped the frequency I had edited into the DB. So it should be possible to do it.

That's great to know I would not of thought of that, as you said I can always download the data base again if I mess up and try again

Set Compare to Database Select On to compare hits against all channels currently enabled (Database and Favorites Lists) and the scanner will not record hits for known channels. Only new channels will have audio recorded (if recording is enabled). Select Off to treat all hits as new channels.
On or Off
The above is from Mark's Easier info.
I seem to remember using it with JUST a fav.ist. but it has been a while since I used it at all/

Your favorite list and the main database are different things. Don't confuse them.

I am not confused about Database and favorite list, I have If you look at my posts I have tried to set the scanner up a couple of ways to just save new conventional frequencies and it still does not work, can you give me a walk through of what I'm doing wrong, I would really appreciate the help, I must be missing something.
Thanks

Mark are not correct in his statement. There's a reason to why the function are called "Compare to Database"
and not "Compare to DB and Favorite lists". Though I would appreciate if Uniden could make that an additional selection.

I just set up and ran a session and it works fine, you MUST tell it which DB to use, if you have multiple ones set to scan.

It ONLY does compare on Trunked systems. There is no place in conventional to even select data to compare.

To the OP - I repeat there is no compare to DB on Discovery for Conventional.

I used to run it on trunked systems, but it has been years. I ran it on a HP1and seems to be the exact same setup.

It worked fine on a HP-1 when I tested now with conventional discovery, so I began to test different firmwares for the BCD536HP.
The last firmware for the 536HP where compare to DB actually worked was dec 2015 vers 1.10.02
You are correct phask, it also compared to any favorite list that are loaded and active. I tested conventional channels with conventional discovery.

From vers 1.11.07 and up conventional discovery stopped working on a BCD536HP.

I assume Uniden based their SDS firmware on newer x36 versions, so the SDS discovery mode are probably not working as it should.

Do you think this will make it back to uniden and they will fix it, would be nice ???

I believe everything at Unidens scanner dept are at a stand still and no one dares to do any changes or touch any firmware until their head strategy and development guy are back behind the steering wheel.

It looks as if the function broke when they introduced DMR into the mix. Uniden has had varying success of decoding DMR in different firmware versions but it have never been at a 100% level. Maybe there's some strange relation between the conventional discovery problem and DMR decoding, maybe using the same work space in memory. That could explain why compare to DB in conventional discovery where removed from SDS100. Newer firmwares still decodes DMR in conventional discovery but compare to DB doesn't work but older firmwares without DMR capability can do compares.
