Last time I was a Disney World, it appeared they were using XPR7550's. Just yesterday (06/27/2024) I see them with an unfamiliar radio, looking to be about the size of a paperback book with apparently 2 knobs on top with no visible antenna. I couldn't catch a look close enough to get a brand or model, so just wondering. I'm sure they're either spread spectrum or encrypted, but just curious what they have switched to if anyone knows.

Exactly! I was just hoping there would be more information to support the
"I seen they had a e sign all over it" comment ....🤦🤣 Might have been a new mode of operations or something.

99% of all Disney World operations are on an a PTToC system. Parade Ops, as well as other business comms are used at Downtown Disney.

@Tomcu96

What you first posted was based on information you have that is extremely out of date and incorrect. Correct information was posted well before your response. In addition, the correct information came from those of us who are local to Disney World in Florida or more than likely have a bit more inside knowledge that's not posted in a wiki or in the database. This response....

"so far they are using a dmr radio system which nobody can listen to it. I seen they had a e sign all over it"

is useless to answer the OP question.

The cut and paste out of the database on your 2nd post is going to show a simplex frequency that is assigned to parade and traffic operations using DMR on Color Code 14, time slot 2, tg 1001. Definitely NOT a DMR "system" and will not reflect the entire park operations scheme. And I also do not "seen a e sign all over it" either. I'd have to assume you mean encryption. That particular talk around channel may or may not be encrypted.

What I am getting at here is, if somebody asks a specific question referring to a specific location, municipality, state, operational frequencies / modes or otherwise, the best information and most accurate information more than likely will come from those who are local who monitor those systems, work for the company or agency that is being asked about, work for the radio shop or service provider that sold / leases/ fixes the radio equipment, even in some cases, somebody who actually has had a piece of equipment in their hand and know how it works. The RR database is only as good as the information that is provided to it whether it is new listings or whether it is to update a listing with a change such as what happened to Disney World switching from DMR to PTToC or to "sunset" systems that do not exist anymore.

If I saw a post from somebody asking for specific information on a specific agency in a specific town in Indiana ( or any other state) I do not believe I would attempt to answer it based on what I saw in the database, I believe I would leave that to somebody else in that specific area asked about to answer. Inaccurate, misleading information does not help anybody.

FirstNet isn't exactly AT&T, although it basically is. WDW is using PoC on the AT&T network.

FirstNet, run by AT&T in all 50 states, and has a separate authority, also operates on Band 14 in addition to AT&T bands. A standard AT&T customer doesn't have access to Band 14. What I don't know is if WDW units have that access. Also, since their folks often run two units (Cell and PoC radio), I'm not sure if maybe the cell is standard, but the radios run FirstNet.

Not necessary true. While initially it was the intent to reserve Band 14 for public safety only AT&T complained that it would not be cost effective to limit the use of the band. AT&T argued that LTE priority & preemption provides first responders with adequate access to spectrum across all bands installed at a site.

Correct, the big scam with FN was Band 14 was exclusively for public safety/FN. Not true by a long shot. I have two devices in front of me right now, one is a FN gov device (issued) parked on a B14 LTE carrier, and another is an AT&T "Orange SIM" consumer phone sitting on the same cell/secotor on B14 LTE750.

Oh, and did I mention this report just came out? Worth reading if you want to learn how AT&T is lying again. But, nothing will happen.

Agree, I called this out when I received a "confidential draft" of the agreement between FN and AT&T many years ago from another local System Manager before it was finalized and this item was also printed in numerous trade journals. The FN & AT&T representatives have flat out lied that Band 14 is Public Safety only and they have stuffed the spectrum into every site that they can (not that it's a bad thing) for general use by the public subscribers.

I also called out the improper use of the CRD's by subscribers as they are Part 90 devices and are deploying them without the proper authorization by the FCC and the Licensee, but that's a whole other topic for another day.
