• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hoping somebody can help me on here with a new setup for our consoles at the PSAP I work at.

I work at a small PSAP in New Jersey that has 3 identical dispatching consoles. We currently use the Zetron 4118 Dispatch console.

We are trying to figure out a way to upgrade and/or improve our capabilities for dispatch comfort and the ability to multi-task easier.

We are looking for a headset solution that is wireless and has the ability to toggle between phone and radio from a wireless toggle. I have done some research and the only thing that I can come up with is the ability to toggle by a foot pedal. Toggling by foot pedal is less than ideal for a truly wireless solution.

I am looking to see if anybody is familiar with such a setup and can steer me in the right direction on what peripherals are required to do so. Upgrading the console and phone system is not an option.

Attached is the current console, phone, and headset solution we have setup. If we are able to something like I described above with any of the peripherals we currently have that is even more advantageous.

Look forward to hearing anybody's suggestions.

What do you mean by a "wireless toggle"? You have wireless headsets already and the Zetron headset interface has the ability to add telephone to it. Let the Zetron do the radio/phone switching as it was intended.

First you need phone audio to the headset interface. A 2 pair cable for TX and RX audio from the Zetron to a 4P4C connector on the other end. You would remove the handset coil cord from the base and plug this cable in instead.

Now you need to signal the Zetron the telephone is in use. A simple switch to the headset interface Off Hook input will tell the Zetron to put the phone to the headset and radio receive will switch to the select speaker. I have used a small magnetic reed switch 54-632 NTE Electronics, Inc | Sensors, Transducers | DigiKey Marketplace stuck to the handset and the base. To answer the phone simply lift the handset off and set it next to the base. Replace when done.

As mentioned above, a qualified tech needs to investigate whether this can be done with your type of phone station and to hook it up and set levels correctly so there are no problems.
