I have a Uniden SDS200, but the Display & Metadata Delay synchronization doesn't seem to be working. I've experimented with various time selections in seconds, and that doesn't seem to result in consistently stopping on the agency that's transmitting, but often reflects a different agency than the one I'm actually hearing, one of the other agencies programmed into the Favorites List.

I've reviewed the section of the Proscan manual that involves the setup of Display & Metadata Delay. I assume that the Display & Metadata Delay doesn't synchronize because the Display & Metadata Delay is probably setup to point to Windows Media Player, which is not compatible with Proscan. I'm moderately competent with computers, but not sure whether to download Winamp to the computer, and setup the Display & Metadata Delay settings in ProScan so that it will point to Winamp, or whether there is some other issue that's messing up synchronization. Any help would be appreciated!

The "Display & Metadata Delay" option on the web page will delay the display and metadata on the web page to make the web page display appear in sync with the audio. If you're looking at the metadata on the media player, nothing can be done about that because the network buffer in the media player is causing the out of sync problem. I use WinAmp and the last time I checked, the latency was about 2 seconds. If you really want near real time with latency around 200 to 300 milliseconds then the RSOIP feature would do it. But that only works on Windows. The RSOIP Client mode is using my own media player so it doesn't have the latency problem.

the Display & Metadata Delay is probably setup to point to Windows Media Player,
Negative. The server serves a standard m3u (mp3 playlist) file. Modeled after Icecast. The audio and data are leaving the ProScan server in real time.

{edit}
You may be thinking that the Windows Media Player is pointing to ProScan. That's probably because the computer file associations is setup so the Windows Media player is the default. It can be changed so another media player becomes the default.

I discovered that the "Source" button within metadata setup was set to "NONE" rather than "SCANNER." I clicked on the Scanner selection, and that solved the issue. I have the "Display & Metadata Delay" set to 1 second, and it synchronizes perfectly now. When you mentioned that the scanner is a real-time feed, more or less, it occurred to me that I may not have the right setting turned on. Duhhhh :geek:,...thanks for the reply!

The audio and data are leaving the ProScan server in real time.

Well, I thought I had this thing figured out by simply turning on the "Scanner" button, and setting the delay at about 1 to 2 seconds. But, I eventually noticed that at only 1 to 2 seconds of delay, it still wasn't synchronizing the display and the audio. Sometimes it seemed to work, and sometimes not. I assume it appeared to be working at first, before I evaluated it and wrote my prior message, because the scan sequence is such that it would land on a particular agency right when they were transmitting. But, other times, not at all, and the audio synched to an altogether different agency on the display.

So, I moved the delay to (16) seconds, and now it seems that the display synchronizes with the audio coming across the scanner. I assume it is building in a latency that delays the actual reception of signals at my cell phone, which is fine with me, as a 16 second delay with respect to when the transmissions occur compared to real-time reception is perfectly acceptable. I'm not in a position where real-time reception is necessary, even though I do like seeing the synchronization. That having been said, it's no big deal either way because, over the months and years, I've found that I've listened to these agencies enough that I can recognize the dispatcher's voices, along with the voices paired with car numbers, and I automatically recognize everybody's audio intuitively anyway without looking at the display.

Anyway, I don't know if I'm off base with respect to how this is intended to be setup up, but it works pretty reliably now.
