• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

One of my local fire services uses DMR with 2 slots, TG 22785 CC4 Slot 1 and TG 22786 CC4 Slot 2. I have each TG on a knob position then a knob position for scan (there are other channels in the zone, but I'm only having issues with the DMR). When I select either of the 2 knob positions for the individual TG, I hear all traffic. When I'm on the scan knob position (normal scan), I only hear the first DMR transmission, and then the radio never stops again when the channel is active. When I press and release the top button on the left side and release, it stops again for 1 call, then goes back to the same behaviour. I'm sure I have setting slightly wrong but can't nail it down. Any ideas?

What is the Type setting you have for the Knobs, you might be using "monitor" rather than "scan". Monitor plays all traffic while scan plays only the TGs you've selected.

As for the second issue, I'm not sure, I have issues with scanning too, and miss a lot of responses and traffic, but the pager really wasn't designed for scanning and Unication hasn't made an effort to make it work better. Maybe if someone has a better response for you it will help me as well.

I've not had trouble the few times I've used mine to scan analog, which is pretty rare, but I've quite frankly never gotten DMR to work reliably in either of my G5's. I finally relented and use something else for DMR when I want to monitor that and use the Unication's for what they excel at which is simulcast P-25 trunking.

I wouldn't mind getting mine to work correctly when we work in the one city DMR is still used in but since it won't do DMR and P-25 trunking at the same time I honestly just gave up on it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Just a word of advice.
If you are scanning with a pager in the fire service Analog or Digital is a NO NO this was even in the days when Motorola was selling the Minitor 3 pagers. The warning was traffic could or would be missed. How long is the delay time until scanning is resumed?
