It seems like the TRX-2 is just a refresh of the 1098 and there isn't any major improvement to it over a 1098 other than future upgradability?

The 1088/1098 will not receive the NXDN upgrade.

It has been posted by Wendy in other forums that you must have missed. And, Wendy told me this in person at the Dayton Hamfest.

ONLY the TRX-1 and TRX-2 will get the NXDN update - NO OTHERS

She did not explain to me why, but some have speculated that the firmware memory on the older scanners does not have enough room for an NXDN update. The TRX-1 and TRX-2 are both marketed with having more memory space for firmware, so I think the lack of memory space is a good assumption. Otherwise it could be just marketing, but I think the memory is the issue.

Hello,

Here is the post where she said the TRX-1/TRX-2 has extra firmware space.

ERIC if you read that is what I reposted. It is a WENDY COPY AND PASTE STATING NO NO NO.
READ IT.
Hello,

I did read it. I am not expecting the WS-1080 to have the NXDN upgrade.

I also remember another post mentioned the TRX-1 and TRX-2 having more flash memory.

It seems reasonable that Whistler would need to update the hardware platform to add more modes given how old it is.

A faster processor should improve performance as well.

So for those in the know. Is there a reason the specifications for the new TRX models do not mention LTR, Motorola type 1, EDACS, or conventional modes? These system types may be at end of life from the manufacturer, but looks like the modes have been dropped completly from theses models.

The specs show that the TRX series has "automatic CTCSS and DCS decode", so it has to do analog. I would assume that it does the other trunk modes you mentioned. They are probably just hitting the new features and high points.

I hope people realize Wendys' statements said the release *should* be by the end of the month. Not *100% for sure will be* ready by the end of the month.

I too however am waiting with baited breath!

The DMR update for the 1080/1088 and 1095/1098 should be available at the end of the month.
(The Whistler Offices will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day)

Have a safe Memorial Day!

Define "the month." Maybe "the month of June?"
