I had some time to go thru and associate 16464 with RID's which primarily fall in the 13xxx range for DNR. I then compared RID's to the Kent DSP Dispatch RID log and found a ton of 13xxx including many that don't associate with 16464.

My theory is K-DSP took over dispatch for DNR Enforcement.
All other parks traffic seems normal.

Any other takers?
Dave this is confirmed I listened to the feed that is on radio reference for Kent com and heard a denrec unit

At the beginning of the week, I started hearing the PX units sign on, so I'm wondering if they decided to have everyone back on 16464 as they enter the summer season  .

I believe there are some fire companies and other agencies or groups that have or had the main Denrec channel in it. This would make encryption efforts challenging if dispatch wants to retain communications with said units. Maybe one solution is to have all law enforcement units use their respective DSP dispatch channel and keep non LE on the SW Denrec?

Does anyone know if denrec law enforcement falls under command of DSP? If so and DSP has mandated encryption then they probably meant for everyone right?

None of the fire companies has SWDNREC in their templates. As for the encryption it depends on if the console has that talkgroup selected to be encrypted. SWDNREC is not strapped like the DSP Talkgroups.

I should of said assumption. I've heard fireboats tell fireboard that "they would be working on the denrec channel" maybe they were loaned a radio or there are rare occasions where someone was allowed to add a channel. I'm just speculating that there are radios out there with SW DENREC and no key loaded, or incompatible.

I spent time in Bethany Beach this weekend and DNREC mobiles are clear and base ENC as has been noted.
I also heard Lums and Brandywine all clear. Kent parks was also clear.

None of the TGs are strapped. Consoles have the choice of turning on or off ENC on the fly for Interop purposes. DNREC as well as other LE fleet maps have the fire and EMS TGs in them. Responses in the water where Fireboats are responding have an automatic DNREC notification. DNREC can switch to and operate on the Fire tac channel and communicate directly with Fireboat units.

Lets not forget that county or state owned radios have the keys while the independently owned FD units do not. There is numerous times where County medics inadvertently switch on Enc or DSP turns off. Its a small switch, it can get flipped easily and accidently.

DNREC falls under DSP and is dispatched out of the Kent Center. They are overworked there enough already. Regardless of if they have ENC on or off, the console will hear it.

They also have temps in the summertime that look young enough to be in college still... I'm sure they don't know the difference between ENC on or off.
