Another possibility is the "user.config" file corrupted.
I had initially thought about that possibility as well, but when I asked the OP specifically, he confirmed in post #9 that Sentinel was not yet installed on his computer... so I'm assuming if that observation is accurate, Sentinel's "user.config" file isn't even on his computer yet. Also, in post #10, the OP says that he is getting the specific error message during Sentinel's installation process that it's needing .NET 2.0 to continue.

But at this point, who knows.... anything is worth considering.

I'm looking for help and think others are really trying to assist me (thank you all).
We are trying to help you.... you continue to mention that you have already downloaded the .NET files....

Can you please post a screen shot of your "Turn Windows Features On or Off" window as I did in post #14 above. That way, we can help determine if your configuration of those settings is correct.

Please help us to help you by posting a screenshot of that window.

Did it.....Nada. Please don't talk down to me. Clearly you have not read what I've said or you would know I've tried these things and saying it's been posted MONTHLY for years doesn't help anyone, just shows you really don't want to help, just make a scene. I'm not impressed. I'm looking for help and think others are really trying to assist me (thank you all).

I've been at the hobby for over 50 years, and worked with computers since DOS. But WIN10 is an abomination to me and is not remotely intuitive, and with it I struggle I freely admit. With that however, I think you could be more charitable.

Not "talking down" to you. This question is asked very regularly here - and 99% of the time, it is fixed by what was described in post #14 - and I simply re-iterated (granted with some emphasis). BTW, I jump in to help people rather regularly - and will continue to do so. You got it all wrong.

So many times, ("monthly"), people don't even bother to search/look for a solution first. Sorry you got butt hurt. Not my intent.

Sounds like you have a failed installation of Win 10 if you are having the issues as you describe. I'd check your hardware and reinstall the OS and dotnet, as much as you hate it. Sentinel works without issue for the vast majority of users, thus the problem lies with either your hardware or your configuration. This is not to talk down to you; it is trying to help you realize where your issue lies. And BTW, Windows 10 is rock solid on modern hardware.

IT guy did "fix" on computer. But he unilaterally changed from Win7 to 10 without asking. Never got disk so cannot uninstall or reinstall. Fear I will need to find someone else because while no stranger to using computers (since before DOS even) I don't do code or try doing some of the things suggested in configsys as it always goes wrong badly when I try. So I'll need to find someone who can check system. I have an idea what it might be but no knowledge to fix it. Thus the frustration. But did try all of these simple fixes suggested. Sadly results were negative.

Thanks all. It is appreciated.

If this is not condescending I don't know what to call it. I'm sure you meant "butt hurt" in the kindest way. If I took it wrong, I suspect it is due to the "emphasis" and language used. I do hope you continue to help people, that after all is the point here. That said you might wish to temper the language with perhaps not so much emphasis or attitude. I didn't notice any other people who were here being helpful feeling the necessity to emphasize this was a much-used issue. I did a search and came up without anything much which I then didn't try. Point was, those attempts using found "fixes" were unsuccessful or I would not have come to the forums to ask for possible help.

The good thing with Windows 10 is you can reinstall without needing the physical media. Assuming that your OS is properly licensed, you have a Microsoft.com account and a 8Gb USB memory stick, reinstallation is a breeze.

One last thing you should try, have your IT guy/gal remove all traces of Sentinel. Then make sure that Windows feature is installed.

Reboot

Have him/her install Sentinel (maybe only administrator can install programs)

Of course, if it is a company owed computer, that may not be permitted.

@vansigint98661

Did you read post #22 above?

The suggestion there was to post a screenshot of your "Turn Windows Features On or Off" window. Are you not able to access that window? Again, it would help us a great deal to be able to check your configuration there. If you are unable to get to that window to get a screenshot of it, please let us know that as well.

In Windows go to…..

Control Panel --> Programs and features --> Turn Windows features on or off (in the upper left corner)

Once that window populates, click in the box that says ".NET Framework 3.5 (Includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)”, and .NET 4.8.....

Click OK, and they will be installed. Then Sentinel will install on that computer.
I had similar problems trying to install. The Sentinel installer redirected me to MS .net webpage which did not really help because there are so many versions available and like one poster said, the versions are not backward compatible. But I followed the directions in this post and got it installed successfully. Thanks
