That could be true but OTOH, Pablo the cocaine kingpin, was tracked by his cell. He just couldn't give up his nightly calls to his son. You can't assume anything. And say for example he grabs someone or breaks into a place and that person WAS listening to cell app, well there ya go. Let's keep the cards close to vest for the deputies sake.

Dorner's beef is with LAPD. I'd be surprised if he kills non-LAPD related persons. He's too intelligent, he doesn't need to monitor a live feed or listen to a radio in his possession. It appears to me Dorner is executing a well calculated plan that will not leave any type of trail. Perhaps he may have an accomplice or two.

I maybe wrong, but I believe the casualties are as follows:
1 USC DPS Officer
1 Civilian
1 Riverside PD Officer

2 LAPD Officers injured
1 Riverside PD Officer injured
2 Civilians injured in an officer involved shooting related to the search

I'd say with the above, you should be very surprised...and the tragic thing is that he no where to be found. I think he's smart enough to not to be in the location they are actively searching...or even worse, use the knowledge that he's being sought out at that location and begin the short process of picking off officers as they search for him.

Wonder if any traffic for this event is on the San Bernardino County 700 MHz P25 system.
Notice some new talkgroups was added today.
San Bernardino County 700 MHz Trunking System, Various, California - Scanner Frequencies

Yes, I recorded some traffic relating to this incident on the talkgroups I recently added. Earlier this morning there was some traffic on the IVS Command group relating to the Riverside PD incident. Later there was some traffic on 28-SWAT-1 for SBSO units gearing up and going up the mountain to Big Bear.

There has been traffic on these talkgroups sporadically for several months. I had known for quite some time which agencies the talkgroups belonged to because it was clear from the radio IDs. The problem was trying to identify the specific sub-agency users and the actual "agency name" for the channel where you basically have to wait for someone to say the channel name over the air.

Going back to the action on System 8, when I came home tonight I was surprised to learn that the manhunt is proceeding on 8-Mtn-1 which is normally patched to 7-EVC-2, while normal traffic is on 8-ATac-1 currently patched with 7-EVC-2.

And it would appear that units are somewhat aware of the large listening audience. I just heard 40-King ask for lat. and long. coordinates to their phone because they didn't want them to go out over the air.

So the tactical traffic we've been hearing throughout the night has been basically a dispatch talkgroup? I find that an extremely questionable decision by whoever is in command of this search. I apologize if this is the case as I obviously cannot monitor the traffic in person to tell what is on what.

Correct. Don't expect Sheriffs personnel to be technologists. Many times I have heard them switching talkgroups in the same trunking system because the previous talkgroup "has coverage problems".

Possible Cop Killer Suspect Sighting in Ramona

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is investigating a possible sighting of cop killer suspect Christopher Dorner at a home near the Barona Indian Reservation.

Just after 10 p.m. Thursday, a person called 911 to report seeing someone matching Dorner's description at the home in the Ramona area, Lt. Jason Rothlein said.

Deputies were having a hard time confirming the tip and were still on scene investigating after 1 a.m. Friday, Rothlein said.

-------------------

Early Friday it seemed that the focus of the search had shifted to the San Diego area where someone called authorities to say they may have spotted Dorner near the Barona Indian Reservation there. Officers were searching that area, said Sgt. Jason Rothlein of the San Diego County Sheriff Department.

What a stupid thing to say.

Probably wont be charged, but maybe dismissed. There are going to be some big lawsuits when this is all over.

There will be investigations into each shooting. I don't see standards being lowered because of the Dorner situation. It would seem fear has a lot to do with these mistaken identity shootings, but it does not justify the results.

We also don't know the circumstances of these mistaken ID shootings. There might be reasons we are unaware of that caused the officers to start shooting. We need to stop speculating and passing judgement until all the facts are in.

dgower, these comments are not directed at you, but pertain to the comment you quoted and similar comments posted here.

How much will this cost the city?

2 Innocent Women Shot During Manhunt For Ex-Cop Chris Dorner Had ‘No Warning’ « CBS Los Angeles

“The vehicle is a different color. The license plate doesn’t match. There’s nothing there for you to start shooting people. And even if they had the person in question… Mr. Dorner…you still have to give them an opportunity to get out. You can’t just start administering street justice,” said Jonas.

Noticed the live feed for San Bernardino County System 8 just went down, is this a techinical issue or related to officer safety? Currently monitoring LAPD, San Diego PD and other San Bernardino feed, it would appear from what I am hearing, no one knows where this guy is. Thanks in advance.

Just noticed the county 8 system is down as well. What is going on with this hunt. Seems like this guy gave all police agencies in the greater LA area a run for their money. What a FAIL. The news is barely touching the coverage as well. Breaking news on all sources is old updates from yesterday. Are the agencies trying to keep this quiet, so they don't broadcast their absurd amount of incompetency? I for one, for safety reasons would want to know for sure where this lunatic is.

Just a quick FYI; late last night/early this morning copied on one of the S.B. feeds that Homeland Security had offered a/c with infra-red capabilities to the SB Sheriffs Dept and also comm equipment, assuming possibly freq hop or digital encrypted. Also there were some choppers on stand by, I believe to be located out of Mach AFB, neither could deploy do the WX.

The lack of any comms (last 4) hours related to this search is interesting. All that being said, my guess is the guy is in San Diego.

A San Bernardino County Sheriff's officer walks through the command post in Big Bear Lake, Calif., Friday, Feb. 8, 2013. Police spent all night searching the snowy mountains of Southern California but were unable to find Christopher Dorner, the former Los Angeles police officer accused of carrying out a killing spree because he felt he was unfairly fired from his job.

Yeah, there's the chance that they could be searching for somebody that isn't there. He could have had another vehicle stashed, or could have hijacked one and been long gone.

Someone could state the case for Law Enforcement Drones in this case....like the ones the Border Patrol uses. I know it takes days to set stuff like that up...remember they used the Global Hawk on that last giant fire that threatened Mt Wilson.

March AFB web site:

In 2007, the 163rd also saw a change in mission, transferring its KC-135R aircraft to other Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard units, with the majority of its aircraft transferred to the 452 AMW at March. The unit was then redesignated as the 163d Reconnaissance Wing (163 RW), operating the MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial system. With this change, the 163 RW also changed operational claiamncy from Air Mobility Command (AMC) to Air Combat Command (ACC).

Even if Dorner gives up, the LAPD will execute him. LAPD has become worse then the mafia. Now the LAPD labeled him as a domestic terrorist??? Funny how gangsters aren't labeled as domestic terrorists and are free to roam the streets. All I have to say is have fresh batteries for ur scanners and alot of bullets for our arms cause all of this will blow up and I smell a riot coming

35 year old black man, in Southern California, (about 10 million people, give or take a few dozen) driving an unknown vehicle. So, how come YOU haven't found him yet?
