Success finally! But I don't like how I did it. Have an old windows 7 laptop, installed software on that and it recognized the driver so I could update my firmware.

InlandAZ, took your adjustments and it sounds much better, not sure about how much better the reception is but it seems to be ok.

The issue with not picking up tgids wasn't totally a scanner issue, but it's working too.

Still like my PRO 96 and 197 better, and excited about getting the 651 tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice. Your messages kept pushing me to find an answer.

Good deal guy - It's not a horrible scanner, but it does have issues. Glad you've got it working.

I had to manually install the driver off of the SD card. Searching, etc, and simply running the iScan installer did not do it (it really should have). This is non-intuitive, but, it does work.

Worked out issue number 2, But I still can not connect the scanner to the software to update firmware or scan lists, I've tried everything I saw in the forums here. I can update scan lists by saving directly to SD card. Really would like some help updating firmware though.

Thanks

When iScan is installed it puts a copy of the drivers on your PC. Look for something similar to this:
C:\Program Files\RadioShack\668\Drivers. When the update drivers ask for the file, direct it to that location.

Thanks, but it turned out to be a windows 10 thing. When I put it on an old win 7 laptop it worked fine.
