I dislike having to install a proprietary download manager to transfer what is supposed to be an open source program. I don't want the advertising, the droppers, or the other crap that tends to be bundled into a download with those things.

I didn't have to download a downloader. It let me download straight to Chrome.

Ok, Dumb question, but I am stuck.

Trying to run 2 instances of DSDPlus, but I get "can't open or create event log".
I understand why this is happening, but I am missing something when trying to create a separate log.

DSDPlus -i2 -o1 >fileOtherfile.mp3

I take it that the >file parameter is not what I am looking for?

Thanks,
Mark

Probably because it doesn't like having the duplicate open from the same folder. The event log is one of the windows that opens with DSD+. Mine crashed when opening two instances from the same folder. I just copied everything to another folder and named it DSD2 and opened one instance from each folder. It works okay.

I know on the older DSD versions (with audio dump only), you could specify a different filename, but I guess you are probably right, unless someone else has a different way of doing it.

Thanks for the help.

Have you tried running it from two different folders? That's often what I have to do with similar SW when running two instances.

Ok.

Index of / or, if you prefer, Index of /dsdplus

1. Going to that URL means that you must trust that I've exercised caution to ensure that there are no "bad" files there. And, since you don't know me from Adam, you shouldn't trust me and thus proceed at your own risk. I am absolutely not responsible for any ill that may befall you as a result of clicking on that link.

2. I'll update this site as new versions are released by the author

Use it or don't use it.

Thanks for the links. I chose to trust you, and wasn't let down. It's working gangbusters here.

Yup, I stand corrected. I launched the exe again today and Avast threw a little hissy fit. Previously it was on with it.

You're welcome, Gene. I'm glad you were able to obtain the latest and play with it. It sure is a fun application.

mike

I already have the latest at the moment, but I also wish to thank you for making another download path available.

After being fine with LRRP.exe since it was downloaded, Avast is now biatching about it here. Had to add LRRP.exe to the exclusion list.

biatching 'cuz *****ing ain't allowed, apparently

Waah ! Hopefully that isn't indicative of a little trojan. If so, I'm screwed cuz they [whoever they are] already have all my personal information and my clients as well heh :) To hell with it, I'm going to continue to download it and throw caution to the wind. Ya only live once!

Monitoring Connect Plus

Folks,

I have a question about monitoring the local wide area connect plus.
I see (or at least I think) there are eight channels at this Connect Plus site, as indicated by the "Con+ Channel Activity" window, and I believe the control channel is on 471.425 slot 1, so far so good.

Few seconds later I see DSDplus shuffled the channel plan and now it moved the control channel to "1"

Is this an indication that the site is not getting a good lock? Also, does the "Con+ Channel Activity" really showing CH 1 and CH 2 as "Freq 1-Slot 1 and Freq 1-Slot 2"?

Well, the control channel will periodically change frequencies, but typically not too often. So it is possible that it just happened to jump while you were watching it.

Also, does the "Con+ Channel Activity" really showing CH 1 and CH 2 as "Freq 1-Slot 1 and Freq 1-Slot 2"?

Yes. Some people find this confusing, but it makes sense to me. I guess the only alternative would be '1-1, 1-2. 2-1, 2-2' sort of thing. So frequency 3 slot 1 would be CH 5.

If I am correct, this is showing a 4 channel site, because there are 2 voice slots per frequency.
So frequency 1 is voice slots 1 and 2, frequency 2 is voice slots 2 and 3, and so on.

A trick that I use, (if you have a second computer available), is to watch the control channel on one computer to monitor activity, and use the second to find and follow the voice frequency. On the systems where I live, the CC seems to prefer the frequency that has voice slots 1 and 2 when idle, but it does move around somewhat when there is voice activity, and then returns to the frequency with voice slots 1 and 2.
I don't know if this is the same for your system, perhaps someone else can shed some light on this.

I've seen the same thing happen when the control channel didn't change - DSD+ simply lost the sync for a second. It resets all the info on the Channel Activity window.

I like:

1A
1B
2A
2B
3A
3B

Very clear to see the LCN and the slot "number".

Developer DSDPlus posted this in another thread in this forum. I thought it was important enough to add here -

"We will add a lite SDR program to the next DSD+ release. It will run 2 or 3 dongles at least on laptops or netbooks."

Hey guys
Does anyone know how to position the main receiving window on the screen?
I've moved the event log and resized it, also the channel window position and hidden the waveform window.
I'd like to move the position of the main data window is this possible.

Also while I'm here, while listening to a cap+ freq its normally all good, with TG id's and Rid's etc but there is 1 TG=2 and Rids=107, 161,163 etc coming up occasionally and they sound garbled..not really encrypted sounding.. just weird. I noticed in the event log window that every time they come up the event is in italic txt, does anyone know what this is indicating??

Thanks
Steve

Sent you a PM on how to move the windows. The main window with the scrolling data is moved in the same way any other windows are (drag and drop). The other windows have a line command to set the position.

Thanks Voyager
Yeah worked out the other windows with the line command but wanted to do the same with the scrolling data window also..
I've created shortcuts for each system to setup the windows on the screen where I preferred them but apart from dragging there might not be a command line option for this :) oh well no biggy
thanks anyway
