So I just received my dsdfastlane and I think I have it set to go, just a questions. Not sure how to get the scanlist, I did copy and past the scanlist from dsdplus1.101 but dsdplus2.65 is not seeing it, How do I get it to see the scanlist.

Thanks

The scan list is used by the SDR side (FMP24, etc.). The file name (FMP24.ScanList) hasn't changed since 1.101, so just copying an old file should work. Nothing about it in the .cfg file.

What's the file name and what does its contents look like?

I was referring to the fmp24.cfg. It has a line referencing a scanlist. Is this not the same? I don't use the scan feature often but mine only worked if the scanlist name matched what was listed in the Fmp24.cfg.

Fmp24.cfg
Code:
2.4 ; sampling rate (1.0, 2.0 or 2.4)
1024 ; spectrum window width
64 ; FFT size (16k, 32k, 64k)
15 ; spectrum update rate in Hz
5000 6250 7500 -12500 15000 25000 ; step size table; units = Hz; negate default
. ; DSD+ path
.\FMP24scanList ; primary frequency list CSV path\filename
.\NY.csv ; auxiliary frequency list CSV path\filename
miles ; search units (miles or kilometers)
30.0 ; search distance
40.7281 -73.1804 ; search origin
.\NY.csv

I made the change to FMP24 CFG file and added my scanlist from dsd1.74 but still no scanning. I am wondering if in the FMP24 CFG the scanlist is for FMP24scanList but the actual SCANLIST file doesn't have FMP24 in it. Will FMP24 know where to look for that file.

Thanks

-Make sure it reads "FMP24.Scanlist". Be mindful of the "." or period between FMP24 and Scanlist.
-There is no need to edit the "FMP24.cfg" file at all Unless you have a different CSV for license display and entering in your GPS coordinance and distance.
-If it says "FMP.Scanlist" It will not scan.
-Computers are finicky make sure to check twice over correct any mistakes then try it. (I learned this editing the DSDPlus.frequencies for Con+ and Cap+ I had commas where periods go!)
-Make sure you click on the title bar of FMP24 while it is running then tap the 'S' key. I don't know how many times I tapped a key meant for FMP24 and not realized it wasn't in focus. Then notice I was pressing 'n' for neighbor list reset in DSDPlus event log window instead of switching noise filters in FMP24.

-Human error is normal.

So I think I am missing something, both FMP24 cc and vc are both saying " no frequency data files found", right under the line that says frequency correction factor. FMP24 cc is showing the control channel is alive but FMP24 vc is not active. I did make the suggested change in FMP24 cfg file.

Which system are you wanting to monitor? What's the link to that RRDB Site?

Don't touch that FMP24.cfg file unless you are entering in your GPS coordinances and distance and CSV with frequencies. What was recommended you put in that cfg file?

The CSV file the Notes.txt links to is the CSV files that are ALREADY in the format DSDPlus and FMP24 understands. Just unzip it to the DSDPlus folder and then you enter in the actual file name of that CSV file into FMP24.cfg. For example, I used the OK.csv file from states.zip. I unzipped OK.csv to the DSDPlus folder. Then manually replaced so it looks like this

.\OK.csv ; primary frequency list CSV path\filename

then saved it and loaded FMP24.exe

Placed my mouse over a known frequency and it showed its FCC license in the FFT display

DSDPlus will also show it.

Please follow that.

DSDPlus.frequencies are where the records are stored. That's meant for systems that do not have a bandplan transmitted from a control channel like CAP+ and Con+. That requires manual editing. More often than not a pain in the neck because some CAP+ and Con+ systems listed at RRDB are partially accurate may miss some frequencies. Some of them use frequencies not in their FCC license data. I already had to correct one RRDB site after hours of hunting down the right frequencies. I hope that system you want to monitor if not Con+ and Cap+ because helping out with that will be daunting if there is missing frequencies, for exmaple, LSN's will have no frequnecy and others will. Missing alot of it.

I need to add the frequencies manually as I can't download them from RR as I am not a premium subscriber. I have FMP24-CC up and running with no problems, my control channel is displayed. FMP24-CC pops up but the channel window is blank. I would like to be able to add the frequencies for ap25 phase one. Also do I open DSDplus or do I just use the cc and vc files mentioned above. Been at this all morning so now going to take a break and eat some Tylenol lol.

Thanks

APCO P25 DOES NOT NEED FREQUENCIES ENTERED IN DSDPlus.frequencies !!

APCO P25 Phase I or Phase II require FMP24-CC, FMP24-VC, VC, and CC batch files just starting out. CC DSDPlus will always see the band plan transmitted by that APCO P25 control channel. It will populate the proper files automatically with NO user intervention. the only exception is Cap+ and Con+.

What I do is I press and hold the 'CTRL' key and click both FMP24-CC and FMP24-VC batch files right click then click open. They both open. after both have opened I re-arrange the windows and minimize what I don't want to see. I usually allow just the CC-FMP24 FFT display to reside on the top portion of my desktop display.

Then I press and hold the 'ctrl' click on both VC and CC batch files then right click and click on open. then they open. After all has opened I re-arrange those windows and minimize what I don't want to see. I usually allow just CC-DSD Event Log on the left and VC DSDPlus Event Log on the right. The CC Channel Activity display I allow to be on top of CC DSDPlus Event Log. The rest is minimized.

Then I click on the title bar to CC FMP24 and manually enter a control frequency using the Number pad and press enter. Then it tunes there and starts decoding the CC channel then the Channel Activity display populates with frequencies. Here locally if there are active talkgroups I start to see TDMA numbers populate in the CC Channel Activity Display and hear Phase II decodes.(APCO P25 Phase II being built in my city).

I hope you take this as a 'template' to get started with. You will learn more on the way.

This image is an example.

Thanks for all the information, I will follow your instructions later tonight when I have some uninterrupted time. Right now I am getting " Can't open RTL-SDR device #2 for the FMP-VC :(. I have FMP-CC set as device number one, so I have to solve that problem first. I have had both VC and CC running earlier so I don't know what has changed? Anyways later, thanks again.

Sigh. So much fail in this thread...

Nothing in FMP24.cfg has anything to do with scanning. Every post suggesting modifying FMP24.cfg is off the mark.

Fleetnet is an old 3600 BPS CC SmartZone system; DSD+ will not decode the control channel, so running CC and VC copies of DSD+ is pointless. Either put the Fleetnet traffic channels into FMP24.ScanList and scan them (no trunktracking / talkgroup following) or use old Unitrunker plus DSD+ or new Unitrunker standalone to follow comms.

So that I am understanding, Fleetnet Apco 25 cannot be trunk tracked by DSD+ 2.165 or any other version?

Correct. Fleetnet is not a P25 system. Check the database...

To trunk track it with dongles, use TRUNK88, Unitrunker, SDRTrunk (IIRC)...

Okay, I think the proverbial penny has dropped, I think? So the only way I can listen to a p25 phase 1 or 2 is by feeding DSD+ any version with a signal from a tapped scanner or SDRSharp for example.

Trunk88 does pretty good on any Motorola SmartZone system. Takes some editing but it's worth it. that's a Phase I system so all you really need is DSDPlus and Trunk88 or Unitrunker or SDRTrunk and just feed the audio to DSDPlus. Unitrunker is easiest and quicker to get going of the three.

P25 PII Needs either OP25, or DSDPlus and FMP24 using TCP. Unitrunker, and Trunk88 won't handle it.

What about a feed from a tapped scanner?
