"Duplicate" Wiki pages

Good morning admins,

Here is a pair of wiki pages with nearly identical/"duplicate" names:

• City of Rochester (NY) FD
• City of Rochester (NY) Fire Dept

From the contents, it might be clearer if the second page above were renamed as "City of Rochester (NY) Fire Apparatus" .

Here is another pair:

• Alpine County (CA)
• Alpine County (NV)
  • According to the RRDB:Nevada page, there is no such county in Nevada. It does not currently exist in Nevada Counties, even though it was listed at some time in the past on the Nevada (US) page.

Question: Does the information shown on Alpine County (NV) actually belong on the Alpine County (CA) page?

Good evening,

These RR Wiki pages...

• Wiki: Winnebago County Public Safety
• Wiki: Outagamie/Winnebago County Public Safety System

...both link to the same RRDB page, which is...

• RRDB: Outagamie/Winnebago County Public Safety System

Observations:

• The second Wiki page's name listed above matches the name of RRDB record listed above.
• I did not find a different system in the RRDB, current or deprecated, that had the same name as the first Wiki page listed above.
• The "children pages" associated with each of the above Wiki pages seem to contain different content.

How should these pages (and their related children-pages) be handled?

Thoughts anyone?

I might be misunderstanding something here, but...

It looks like a TRS name got changed in the RRDB which disconnected it from its Wiki page, and a duplicate/stub Wiki page got created instead of the existing page being MOVEd/renamed.

The stub Wiki page: General Motors Research (DMR) seems to point to the same RRDB page as the General Motors Research Wiki page.

It seems like the stub page should be deleted, and the existing page should be "MOVE"d to match the new name used in the RRDB.

If you read both articles, I think you'll find that someone coded a 'General Motors Research' article for just the Michigan sites; the one with the DMR in the title encompasses the entire system (including NY and Tennessee). So I simply bound the two together since they seem to describe the same system, but a set of sites in another state. Evidently there was a time when the site was described sans the DMR in the title, hence the confusion.

If you're going to drop the one that doesn't have the DMR in the title, just copy all the bandplan links over and be sure to drop the link in the Michigan Trunking systems table. That should just about do it

I think the better choice is to delete the one titled "...DMR" since it is the new one (and is a stub), and then MOVE the existing one (that does not have "DMR" in its name), so that history-logs are preserved. Afterall, the MOVE technique should have been used when the page was renamed in the DB.

Correction on situation-description

Ok. After additional investigation through the history logs, what seems to have happened is:

• Back in May 2016, the "General Motors Research" TRS was deprecated in the RRDB.
• Another Wiki-editor, instead of deprecating the "General Motors Research" Wiki article to match the RRDB, instead changed the article's "sid" value to point to the "General Motors Research (DMR)" RRDB page.
  
  
• So, both articles should stand separate, with the "General Motors Research" being flagged and categorized as deprecated... which has now been done. Also, the DMR Bandplan links have been moved from the deprecated "Type II" article to the "DMR" article.
  
  
• So, W9BU, please do not delete either article. .

My apologies for adding to the confusion up to this point by not investigating it completely prior to my earlier suggestion. My time is more limited now than before, though that's no excuse.
