The line up I have the sheriffs office is soon going to be outdated once the switch to a new line up by the end of the month.

That's exactly what I meant. Thanks for that info (even tho things are going to change at the end of the month with the sheriffs dept.) I always try to program my scanner the same way the FD and PD have there radios programmed. In the RR database for Dutchess county they have the channel layout for Fire but not for the Sheriff or SP. So I figured I'd ask the question.

Soon the Sheriff's office will be using a simulcast system on Dispatch which is 155.640 just like 911 does on police 1 so units in the field don't have to switch towers. Whatever site picks the unit up the best the system will vote to that site and then rebroadcast it out on all sites so a unit in Milan can hear whats going on out in the eastern part of the county. Now they are just waiting on the new radios to be installed in the cars, The consoles might be done already. I can't wait till they switch so I don't have to hear that annoying DTMF tone on dispatch any more.

You know, your comment about "that annoying DTMF tone" reminds me of a conversation on a local ham repeater yesterday.

I don't understand why people find DTMF, Modat, etc., so annoying. To me they provide a clue as to what frequency or agency is transmitting without having to look at the scanner.

Have you ever actually monitored the DCSO? That DTMF tone is the most obnoxious and irritating thing I've ever heard. I'd rather listen to the GE-Star burst from the Thruway units all day long than listen to that wretched DCSO DTMF tone.

All what the DTMF tone indicates is what tower is being used. I guess it's just the pitch of it that drives me crazy. I feel bad for the people that have to listen to it.
