For a cord free setup, you might look at a small bluetooth transmitter and bluetooth earbuds. For some activities, it is a lot less bothersome than yanking out the earphones when the wire gets in the way.

I used to use the stock Samsung Galaxy corded earbuds.
Worked fairly well.
The Bluetooth is best, because you can then use any ANC headphones/earbuds and have noise reduction also.

BTW... If you have any Bose/Sony/(?) headphones, they can be used with a cord.
They work great.

Some bluetooth transmitters, perhaps all, will have a time delay when it doesn't detect any audio and stops transmitting after a while. The headset then goes into sleep mode to activate battery save mode that tries to detect a BT signal for a millisecond each 2 sec or so. When used with a mobile phone it starts transmitting when the phone rings and there will be plenty of time to wake up the headset and resync between devices again until you answer the call. When scanning and a conversation starts you might loose the first couple of seconds if there haven't been any audio for a while. I.E. you would prefer to have a long delay time before it goes into sleep mode.

The earphone in your link is mono, not stereo, and shouldn't be plugged directly into the SDS100.

The SDS100 uses a stereo output for the earphone jack. Inserting a mono device will short out 1/2 the output amplifier of the SDS100. A stereo to mono adaptor should be used in the SDS100 earphone jack if using that earphone.
I also read somewhere that not to use a mono plug and only use a stereo plug, even though the SDS-100's are not stereo, you would still get sound out both earphones ?
Thanks again omanzz

The SDS100 earphone output (as well as that of most other Uniden scanners) uses a stereo jack and is technically a stereo output in the sense that both audio channels are active, but both sides are being fed the same signal. So yes, you will hear the same audio from both earphones.

Because it's states to use only a 3.5mm stereo plug,, stereo plug has three connections and mono has two connections. The mono plug shorts out the three connector in the scanner. Thanks Randy hope this helps Doug
There was nothing in the manual that suggested that. I searched and found a post from Upman that confirmed it. Would be nice to have that info in the manual.

On the up-side, I'm happy to report that there's been no damage to the scanner after often using it for well over a year. :D
