Apparently an "easter egg" (a hidden message) is hidden within the Pro-96's firmware...
I first found out about this via stupidscannertricks.com, but have confirmed that a) this *does* work and, more importantly, b) this causes no harm and a bit of amusement :3
Anyways, to the easter egg:
a) Push PGM-FUNC-PGM (just like you're going into V-Scanner mode)
b) Push "TEXT". You'll get a blurb about "to use TEXT mode type PGM-FText" or something to that extent.
c) Push "TRUNK". Now we get to part one of the egg: The display changes to read

d) Push "SCAN", and the second part of the egg shows up: A list of developers for the Pro-96. :3
The radio can be turned off and all functionality is restored to normal.
One now has to wonder if a similar Easter egg exists in the Pro-2096, or most GRE radios for that matter :3 (Though I would say the likelihood is that the possibility for Easter eggs is likely restricted to the Pro-96/Pro-2096 family and their successors, I don't discount eggs in the other scanners either!)
