Left my radio on autopilot for the day monitoring for any activity on the Edison frequencies.

Not a Morse ID, not a patch, in fact not a peep.

Last we heard testing was on NJICS and comparing to Middlesex TRS, as covered on ICS thread.

Here is the closed thread. Anyone privy to the future of this license ?

which frequencies? the one listed in the license for their possible new system. i havent heard anything new lately about what edisons future moves are beyond contemplating a move to the county TRS but thats a year old. i know county is working/testing Monroe FD on the county TRS so i would think they are close to making the move, but nothing on edison as of late.

No decision has been made at this time, as reports from the testing on the various radio systems recently are still being reviewed.

"Is there still the request that if they go to the county TRS that 2 sites are added in Edison for better coverage, or was there ever that request officially?"

Yes, if Edison chooses to go to the County TRS, 2 sites will be added. They would be at the Municipal Building/PD HQ, and at PSE&G's radio tower at 234 Pierson Ave.

At this time, no decision has been made as of yet regarding a switch to either the County or State. However, my source told me recently that Edison will not be building their own trunked radio system with the frequencies allocated to them. The cost was too much to build out a separate system. I was told however that a decision will most likely be made by the end of 2021 as to which system to join. As to what will happen with Edison's 700 MHz freq's, a decision has not been made as to what will become of them.

I was told though that no matter what system Edison chooses to go onto, Edison Police will continue to be encrypted.

As a user of the county system would be great for 2 more sites to be added, cause more is always better, as for the police staying E, I’m used to most PDs being encrypted as long as fore stays in the clear

@svolks209 nice find. So then, the control of these resources continue.

It appears future options are:

1) Do nothing
2) Absorb frequencies into MC TRS
3) Eventually build something out

I imagine Edison Fire will be back on County TRS at some point. I wonder what the in building coverage is. Quite a few very large buildings and high rises in Edison.

Time will tell.

The county has begun the formal process of coordination and licensing for two new sites (New Dover Road, and Grandview Gardens) to support Edison's migration to the system. They will become subsites of the existing countywide simulcast, using the existing 700/800 frequencies from that cell.

Just as an observation: on March 30, 2022 Edison Police started a patch from the Edison Motorola UHF TRS Talkgroup 1648 to the Middlesex County 700 system with TG 5001 as Edison PD 1. At first, the patch was in the clear, however by the next day, it was Encrypted and remains that way. Database submission has been made.

The Middlesex County TRS license has been successfully modified. I see the addition of two sites.
