At 17:31 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1, along with Medic 94 and an Ambulance from Cecil County Station 8 (CFCRS), was alerted for an auto accident with one subject unconscious at the intersection of Hickory Hill Rd. and State Rd. in Elk Township.
Deputy 21 went enroute and the incident was quickly upgraded with reports of one patient still trapped in their vehicle. This added Rescue 12 to the assignment.
Upon arrival, a two vehicle crash was found, with a subject trapped inside a convertible. Deputy 21 established Command and requested a helicopter be put on standby.
Engine 21-2 and Squad 21 arrived and put the Spreaders in service to pop the driver's side door of the car. The EMS crew began patient care while the driver was removed.
Engine 21-3 and Utility 21 arrived and split their crew. Part of the crew set up a Landing Zone in a nearby field while the rest assisted with extrication and patient care.
Skycare1 transported one patient to the hospital by air, while Ambulance 21-2 transported a second patient.
