To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

where do you live and are you wanting input or someone to install
A lot of the wackers go to the batlabs forums or elightbars, so if they can install 20 lights and 34 scanners then I should say you'd get enough help to install a few simple lights.
I thought I remembered seeing a post about another message board relating to lighting installs, Im in east central Alabama.

There's some non-whackers on elightbars as well. That is by far going to be your best bet for lighting installs.
Know the laws of your city state and surrounding states. If your not public safety related , most strobes and add on lite to a vehicle are illegal for on road use. Some states even limit amber lights.

I guess that means I have to remove the 58" MX7000 (red, blue, amber, clear) lightbar from my 1988 Ford Escort. It's a shame I wasted those zipties.

Thanks Roln, im swaping all of my equipment from my Dodge 1500 to the Explorer, Alot of room in the Dodge to mount things, not so much in the Ford.
Around this part of the country, Green lights are limited to military convoys, although all I have ever seen used is yellow. Nebraska is probably the only state with this law on the books that goes back to the 40's.

That is why I use a magnet mounted top bar. And I take it off when travelling outside the upstate area. You never can tell what the other state's laws are going to be on the "privately owned" public safety vehicle and I definely don't want to find out the hard way. The local town with a paid fire department does not let its FD volunteers run red lights on their cars. However, the rescue squad is responsible to the county and is allowed to run them on private vehicle subject to restrictions (must have 360 degree coverage, no dash only lights, must have siren installed, member must be in good standing for 2 years, 300K liability insurance coverage, etc). You don't join the squad and light up your vehicle the next day. We have had members pulled over by LEO's new to the area who are unfamiliar with the practice. That is why I know that some areas don't allow it at all. I personally try not to run Code in the local city POV if possible.
Actually we tried to operate without emergency lights/sirens several times, only to have Paramedics complain about being on cardiac arrest scenes too long without extra people.

Since this subject has been brought up, I'll take the opportunity to warn those thinking about installing emergency lights on a personal vehicle here in California. In California, you can't install or temporarily mount any type of strobe or flashing light unless the vehicle is owned by a public safety agency. Even if you work in public safety, you still can't install emergency lights on your car (not even off-duty cops). Utility company vehicles are limited to amber lights.

thanks for the info, I have found the site very helpful. I even found a state trooper that worked in my area and moved to another part of the state, he has located some lights for me.
