A global toggle for encryption muting would be best. Then we'd have the option to at least know whether its occurring or not.

I'd prefer globel ignore. I don't want this scanner stopping on useless junk nor do I need to see or hear it.tbhausen said:A global toggle for encryption muting would be best. Then we'd have the option to at least know whether its occurring or not.
rdale said:Skipping encryption is not mentioned in the manual, so I'd bet that encrypted talkgroups will sound just like they do on the Pro96.

Or, we can wait for the radios to be released and give it some time (and hope) to see if they release a firmware update to take care of that. Either way, it would be a nice feaure but it's not a deal-breaker for most people, especially those of us that use the current GRE line that doesn't mute it either. Before the latest Uniden models, none did!.windchaser said:the tec he talked to said the 500-600 WILL NOT MUTE OR SKIP P 25 ENCRYPTION but will mute SOME motorola encryption, and that there was no software to do so in the future. this is not a quote just what the gre representative told me. this sucks big time.
SEE!!!!! They already added a new feature even before release!!!!rdale said:Thank goodness they still utilize the "lockout" on this new-fangled scanner ;>
OHHH! That's it! I'm getting this scanner sometime next week!DaveIN said:Even better, "temporary" lockout!
I think this will be addressed real soon.Bill_bly_ca said:On this system http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&sid=1783
Group 00-142, which is secure, does break squelch ..
It has been locked out..

Like Walter mentioned above, there is lots of times that I hear encrypted channels in the clear so I don't want to lock those out.
Did I just make sense![]()
